Launched at 11 mile.  Went north to masonic temple area. Not many people on the lake - maybe 4-5 boats around 8am.  The water is really clear and there's not much vegetation.  Tried from 9' to 3'.  Got a lot of rock bass and a few small smallmouths - mostly on a light green std tube.

Went down to Ford Mansion.  Again just a few boats.  Got a fair pike on a ratltrap or redeye sexy shad.  Again just a few fish, not much quality.   Water 63 according to my gauge (I saw 69 degrees in the 11 mile canal where we took a nice LM pair - husband and wife and put them right back).

It seems like 8-9' was probably best on yesterday.  It was stormy in the morning and we felt intense static electricity building up just before the rain started.  It made my rod hum in a high pitched way and then start shocking me with static discharges again and again.  We stowed the rods and got low and started for cover when the rain started - that seemed to eliminate the electricity and we never saw any lightening.  We heard some thunder from a few miles away though.

I used a driftsock but I noticed that most people were anchored.  Is that typical?  Also, where on the westside would I find more vegetation?

Vegetation isn't always the key out here.  One thing to look for is rock piles.  I was on rock piles with light scattered grass and we hammered them today.  The rocks were in 12-15 FOW. There are good rocks around 12 Mile, South of GPYC, and down through GP Shores all the way down to the river.  If your new to the area, it'll just take a little time to find the rocky areas.
