Saddle Lake - Columbia, MI

5-5-2012

1pm-7:30pm

Today we went out to check out Saddle Lake before our June 2nd tournament, though we didn't get what we expected we sure aren't complaining.
The west side of the lake proved to be kind to us though many other anglers on the water were having difficulty on this side.. On both my third cast and my father's third cast we both caught largemouth in the 2-2 1/2lb range. We had a difficult time putting a pattern together today, in fact we didn't, we decided to "junk" fish with one or two fish coming on each technique. The water temps were in the high 60s, a far cry from a week ago, the fish have made beds and some may have already spawned.

The big fish of the day came on a 1oz Krypton Football jig in Seminole Craw with a Craw UV 3" Craw trailer, the second largest fish came on the 3" Craw trailer fished with a 1/16th out pinch weight pushed against the eye of the hook. We were able to end the day still culling.
