I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Our club is fun fishing Union Lake in Oakland County this weekend.  Anyone have any tips for that lake?  Never been there before.  Any hazzards to be aware of?  Thanks!

I hate to say it but you guys picked about the worst lake you could have for the time of the year.  FUN fishing.   See how much fun it is when you have big loud boats doing circles around you all day and non stop jet skiers cruising around all the time.  That lake gets PACKED.  There are so so so many better lakes really close by that are far less crowded.  That lake is a pain in the but.  The NBAA weeknight tourney there two weeks ago was a nightmare trying to get everyone launched and parked.  The parking lot on the other side of a busy road is stupid.  Well have fun.

Union will test your 'fishing pressured waters" skills to the max.  My best day out there was on the 4th of July i think last year, maybe 04...but i caught fish all day long using a modified drop shot rig with a 4" Iovino finesse worm and using a tube as my weight.  I caught most of the fish on the worm, but caught a couple nice keepers on the tube as well.  I also finally got to see a smallmouth over 3 lbs come from Union that day.  the first i had seen out there in 2 years.

Have fun and keep your head up.  It gets craaaaaazzzzzzy out there.  But there is some good scenery, if you know what i mean ( wink wink wink )  fine women in bikinis if you dont know what i mean ( more winks )

Well, anyone want to suggest a better lake to fun fish near that area on Saturday?  I'm open to ideas.  It's not a tourney, so we're looking to fish a fun lake and get into a few fish.  Not really interested in dodging jet skiers and other boats all day.  We've never been to Union.  If we had known about it, we'd have picked somewhere else.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

Lower Pettibone in Highland.  Awesome largemouth lake.  No boat traffic.  Lots of fish.  Docks, Drops, pads, good weedlines, access to two other small lakes via a small shallow creek.

Awesome lake for pitching jigs to docks, great topwater bite, good lake for senkos and hula grubs.  Also, i have got on a sweet suspending jerkbait pattern out there this time of year.

Only downside, no smallies.

Just a suggestion.

You can get to the lake by taking M 59 to Duck Lake rd.  South on Duck Lake Rd to Cooley Lake Rd.  Cooley lake becomes Pettibone Lake road, just after a large bend in the road you will come to Reid Road.  Take reid Rd left and follow til it ends, bust a quick right and that takes you directly to the launch.

It is a DNR launch but they do not have a booth.  and i dont think they even have a drop box.

There is a concrete ramp but there is a large hole at the end of it.  Probably from me powerloading.  Im sorry.  But you can back down and to the right away from the dock and it is all hard sand and small rock bottom.  As long as you stay off the actual ramp, you can load and unload very easy.

Its very clear out there, you will see the hole.

don't go to Orchard.  fished there last night with NBAA.  13 boats and only 7 weighed fish.  2 fish won, 6 lbs.  2nd place one fish 3 lb.  i never caught a keeper.
i will be going to Oakland sat morning to try and figure that lake out.  been there twice and have caught 2 keepers.
i will look to see if you are on union when i get home.  i am the 4th house south of the launch.  there is an empty shore station hoist in front of the house..  the little barking shcnauzer will show you the good spots.

good luck where ever you end up

Thanks for the information on Pettibone Lake, I've been wondering about decent lakes close to my home.  The lake that i've been fishing (Wolverine) has been trying my patience lately.  Not sure if it is water temps, lack of weeds, or the angler, but I'm a loss out there. Gonna give it another try tomorrow morning though.
