Tri-State Tournaments

Just wondering if anyone fished in any of these and what ever happened to the circuit I heard that at one time it was a pretty big deal.

It was a 150 boat team tournament for several years - Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. Phil Smathers ran it. He branched out into a 90HP and under circuit that wasn't quite as big a draw but still popular for a few seasons.

It was the overall biggest circuit for a while. Things change. Phil sold it. The wind kind of went out of the sails. It stopped after 3 to 5 seasons of diminishing boat numbers. Been a while now. That's the short version.
