Pre-Fishing Events

I have heard a couple different opinions about pre fishing tournaments and was wondering what opinions guys on here had. Is it best to fish a few days before the event or if possible is it best to fish the day before the event. I wouldn't think it is good to pre fish the day before the event because if you hook into some fish maybe it would turn them off from biting the next day?? Still new at this kinda stuff so any input is helpful..thanks

I've always heard a few days before.  I may b wrong but i Think some clubs even have rules of when u can pre fish.

Depends on time of year, water clarity, depth, if it is a real good fishery vs a tougher fishery. Practice is more about find good looking spots and maybe seeing bass rather than catching them. Some practices I would never catch a bass. Some I stuck a bass here or there. When I could I tried not to hook them.

These days for me
On most lakes I never pre fish

If I've never been on the lake or don't know it well
I'll hit it a week or 2 before just to come up with a couple spots
and figure out a bite

I've never won a tournament I didn't pre-fish or have intimate knowledge of.  Come to think of it I have only won a few tournaments...

I would do both. I personaly do not think it hurts to get on the water and fish the day before. Most lakes around have tounrmanets on them several days a week. I like knowing the water clarity and temps as close to the event as posible. I would stick em hard a few days before and only lightly stick fish the day before an event.

When I fish mutiple day events I tends to find that a good spot will hold enough fish for 2 - 3 days. Those are the spots your looking for.

However I often do well with little pre-fishing time. If you know the lake you wont have to worry about fishing hard the day before.
