Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

FLW Outdoors Announces 2012 Walmart FLW Tour Schedule

World championship of bass fishing, Forrest Wood Cup, returns to Lake Lanier, Detroit River back on the schedule

MINNEAPOLIS (June 15, 2011) – FLW Outdoors announced the 2012 Walmart FLW Tour schedule Wednesday. The 2012 season will feature 10 tournaments: six FLW Tour Majors and four FLW Tour Opens. The Forrest Wood Cup, the world championship of bass fishing, will return to Lake Lanier and the Gwinnett Center in Hall and Gwinnett Counties, Ga., following the tremendous success seen there in 2010.

Did the FLW "tweak" the rules in order to prevent locals from entering these Opens?

As a boater you have to enter all of the Majors. The opens are as they imply "open"
