I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Have you ever swam for one?

I was chatting with a friend of mine and he told me this story.  These are his words exactly, except where I added his name.

"yep. at the new lake. C (Christian, his son) was fishing on the dock, and i was moving around shore. Spotted a 5+ pounder under the swimming raft. Played with it a bit. it was responsive to bait, but never really left the protection of the raft. Had to get creative and start trying to cast between the swimming platform and the lower part of the struture. Probably a 8 inch gap. Finally got it to go in between, and it actually hit. Problem was it was too heavy to pull up over the board from where I was. Was a nice day, so i decided to swim for it, rod in hand. MF'er spit the lure when I was about 5 feet away.

shaefull swim back to shore!!! hah"

Have any of you ever swam for a fish?

I haven't but I have waded to retrieve and hung up lure.

Seems like about once a year I see someone take a dive off the boat after a fishing rod... usually with a bass attached. I've gone 'swimming' three times but it was clumsiness or waves, not a fish that got me in the swim ;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I have read a couple of posts lately about guys falling in for whatever reasons...One was about a guy that couldn't get back in his boat..He even tried stepping on the cav plate and trimming the motor up but he got too cold...

I am putting a ladder on my boat this year.....I know I would struggle pulling my fat butt back in my boat with all of my gear on..

I have never gone over the side for a fish....I have gone over the side for a rod though...It wasn't even mine.. ;D

I've taken a swim once reaching overboard for my glasses, and I've waded from shore to retrieve a lost lure but never for a fish.  I've seen some videos of some pros going swimming though!

I have taken a swim for a rod in Lake Orion during a tournament. Partner caught a fish and I helped netted it. After giving each other a "high 5" I said to him "hey is my rod up there?" He said no and I looked over the boat seeing my rod about 8 ft down in weeds.

Took off my shirt and pants and jumped in. Never did get the rod becauase I stirred up the bottom and weeds.

i had to take a swim for a pair of sunglasses on bear lake in kalkaska in may.  really clear water.  figured it was about 8 feet down.  turned out to be about 15.  it was really cold but i got the glasses back.  left them in the windshield of the boat on the way back home from the trip and they blew out of the boat. >:(

McCarter himself :-\'

I have never intentionally went swimming for a fish. I have ended up in the drink a few times while trying to reach for or get to a fish while flipping trees/bushes in Iowa and Missouri tournaments. I have went in 3 times and only came back with the fish once. Bad thing was I also had to let the fish go as it was "landed" while I was out of the boat....go figure.

Get back in the boat and THEN reel it in the rest of the way?

I went swimming for a fish one time. When I was younger, I hooked into a monster at a local lake off of a raised swimming platform. I had to climb down the ladder and wade in about 4 ft of water. I managed to get the fish secured and it still hangs on my wall to this day.
