I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

OK, I need to try some new line.  I'm sure it's been posted already but I don't see it.

For a Stradic 4000 spinning reel, what do you suggest?  I need some strong braid, or superline.  Strong, no stretch, no tangle.
Right now I'm using Fireline crystal, which is not a braid.  It is just impossible to find in higher than 20lb and i'd like 50 or so.  It's that time of year to experiment while im bored so lets hear what you have to say and ill go buy it and try it.

Thanks,
Frank

P-Line is a sponsor of the forum and makes the best quality super line in my mind and experience using many of the top brands. Spectrex IV. I've had the best and most consistent performance with that line since I switched over to it several season ago.

You can get 50 lbs, 65 lbs, 80 lbs. And down to 10 lbs too. Available in 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, 65, 80, 100, 130, 150 and 200 lbs test. On a spinning reel, you might want to try the 30 lbs test.

P-Line often offers rebates on line purchase so make sure and visit their website. You can find Spectrex IV at good prices sometimes at various stores in Michigan. I've found some good bargains this time of year at Bass Pro Shops and Gander Mountain for heavier P-Line.

Ditto what Dan said. P-line was recommended to me 2 years ago. I wont use anything else now. Its not a super line, but the CXX is awesome.

Stren had some good braid that was pretty cheap for a while, but i think they discontinued it. I've always used power pro, never had a reason to give it up. If you have a 4000, you probably want to back the reel with a good amount of cheap mono and then like 150' of braid. Will keep the braid from spinning on the spool and also there's no reason to spool up 20$ worth of braid on 1 reel.

Another vote for Power Pro.  And like thedude said, put some mono backer on it first.

Mike, P-Line Spectrex IV is a super line braid. I truly believe it is the most superior super line. I was the only person in Brazil that did not break off once all week on those peacock bass. Everyone else had break offs including with the other brands 80 lbs test like I was using. I've used most of the other popular brands and then switched because of the superior cast-ability of Spectrex along with all the other benefits of a top quality line.

I always back all my spools with cheap bargain basement mono before I put on a couple casts worth of the good stuff.

This weeks project will now be, 1 spool of P-Line and 1 spool od Power Pro.  I'll cast around the banquet hall / castin range and see what I like.  I might just use both.

Thanks guys

Not to hijack this thread, but has anyone tried the new Suffix 832 braid?

Wondering if it is as good as advertised, or if its just a matter of plugging/hyping up a new product.

t-bone

I bought a spool of the suffix 832 to try it out this spring. I haven't put it on a rod yet but it will be soon. Initial impressions are is that it seems fairly stiff and it was difficult to find the yellow color. Could only find it online.

Both Ganders in GR have it in yellow/hi-vis green (what ever color they are calling it)

I see Spiderwire has a new braid out called Flourobraid...It is suppose to sink like Flouro...
That peaked my interest...I started checking reviews and saw a couple that said guys were breaking off the 10lb pretty easy....

I have tried Fireline, Power pro, and Stren Braid...I have had good luck with both the Power pro and Stren....Fireline has not been all that reliable...

Sunline just came out with a braid also, think it's 8 strand dyneema and sinks. I use Sunline flouro and love it so I'll probably try their braid if I use any braid.

Gander Mtn has Power pro braid...Buy one roll get the second roll half off....That is a pretty good deal and you don't see PP go on sale very often...

Bought a spool of the Suffix 832 yesterday... will try it out when all this ice is gone.

Does the Sunline come in a hi-vis color??

Hey T what about the Daiwa braid you bought and used last year, thought you said it was pretty good?

No...Green/Blue and Dark Green

I've heard Fireline Tracerbraid is good stuff too.  Eliminates the need for the black marker too...

Sunline comes in either green/blue Camo pattern, or just dark green. Sorry it took so long, I didn't see the thread until now for some reason.
