The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

I have tried it...When spotting fish on the graph you can't make the drop as fast as you can with a spinning reel...Also I don't feel like I have as much control..
I am going to keep on working on it though because using a baitcaster virtually eliminates line twist when using straight Flouro....
I have started doing more tube dragging with baitcasters with some sucess....

When vertically fishing in very  deep water and drifting downstream, it's nice to use a bait caster.    It's easier for me to change depths when needed.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Been sticking to spinning tackle for light rigs, but I have it on my todo list to try power dropshotting and will use casting tackle for that. I've actually sort of done it a few times and it has worked, but I need to make it a mission to get used to it and try variations on purpose. Never to old to learn...

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I have had some decent success drop shotting in Shallow water on Northern inland lakes while trolling around looking for beds...Every once in awhile you catch a cruiser....I have never used a baitcaster in that application but it may be a good place to try...

My partner and I use both spin & cast.   Each has their place like Dan said, spin for light weight and casting for power shotting.

BS  ;)

power shotting never works and don't even think about trying it.......

i'm making a few baitcasting DS rods this winter. My personal rod will be painted hot-pink with picture of tinkerbell and the words "fairy wand" on it.... or maybe something more vulgar... who knows :) Would really like to get a daiwa px68 to go with it.
