Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

The day started off great. Got to the lake a little later than I had planned, around 7am. Temp in the 50's. Started working my way around the drop offs with a Pop-R. Caught several bass, more than half in the keeper range.

After the sun was up good, I went deeper and started throwing a white spinner bait. Caught 3 out there, one close to 3 lbs, was having a great day. Switched to a trap, and stayed deep. Set the hook on a monster, second cast. I soon realized it wasnt a bass. Fought this guy for several minutes before I got a look at a 36-40" Northern. He was HUGE. I wrestled him into the boat, and somehow the hooks came out of his mouth. There must have still been tension on the line, because it imbedded in my calf.

So, here I am, in my small boat, a 3ft+ pike jumping around on my bow, and this hook in my leg, still attached to the rod. Would have made a great video. I couldnt take the chance of bleeding much, so a trip to the hospital so they could cut the hook out of my leg. Planning on making another trip to Tipsico next Saturday.

I always have a hard time putting pictures on here

Well the fishing sounds great

Sorry to hear about the hookin the calf, It looks like it was in there deep

Last year I took a couple friends out for Walleye down in Ohio
We had 2 in the box and we were going to move
So I'm in the back of the boat taking off the inline planner boards
When a 800 reef runner shoots out of the water and lands in my chin
Had a 6 mile drive back to the ramp in 2-3 footers with a 4 1/2" crank bait
hanging from my chin. We cut the split ring at the ramp
And then had to find a hospital down there.
They told me they remove 1-2 hooks a day during the summer

So welcome to the club

You just missed the first "[" or you'd have been fine (well other than the calf thing ;D ). I fixed it for you.

Yikes Mike.  Hopefully your next trip to that lake works out better for you !!!!  I've been there done that before.  Had a 13inch bass on a Luckycraft Sammy hanging from beneath my arm once.  lol

Next time you bury a hook in your hide try this. I have used it twice, both successful extractions!

Now that's going to leave a mark!!   :o

The line extraction trick is hard to do by yourself. Last time I tried it, I just yanked my leg around. Still ended up in ER. Tried pushing it through and made my sister faint.

Thanks for the help with the pic Dan, one of these days I'll figure it out. The hook extraction thing looks cool, but because of medical things, I have to be very careful about bleeding right now. But, I do have to tell you guys, Veronica held onto the lure and hooks while I cut the extras off. Shes a real trooper.

I was at Woodland one day by myself and an 8" Bass jammed a Bandit into my thumb, all the way to the bone. I had to self administer. It worked, but it took two attemps :'(

djkimmel

Yeah... I think I need to be just a little more coordinated... Now if I had a quality partner like VERONICA!!! I'd be all set!!
