The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

Roy Randolph got me back on with Bob Bauer's Outdoor World (thanks Roy!) to talk about OPENING DAY (YEAH!!!) over the phone.

Bob Bauer helped a great deal with letting us get the word out during the bass season process (WKRK 97.1 Free FM in Southfield) with air time. I'm listening right now over the Internet (Roy is actually there in the studio) to Roy, Bob and Bill Parker - editor of Michigan Outdoor News (love the new colors Bill!).

It works out very well because I also got to talk about Proposal 1 - protecting our outdoor tax dollars, and the lead ban bill - don't buy into the need to ban lead this way. I support educating anglers and the public in general and letting the change from lead to other metals evolve naturally. This will give the industry, small business and hobbyists time to develop more cost-effective processes and equipment.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Nice Job Dan

I didn't even know about the Proposal 1

Thanks Roy.

Yeah, not everyone is reading the conservation/legislation board down below here. Some important stuff in there and not just from me. I'm thinking of changing the name of the conservation forum board section below to "Pictures of Hot Dancing Girls" except I don't want a fine for false advertising.

I'll have a conservation/legislation web page up soon too.
