Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

The latest on the 2006 Michigan BASS Chapter Federation Classic Series schedule:

Jun 3-4 Muskegon Lake Fisherman's Landing
Jul 15-16 Saginaw Bay Au Gres River Ramp
Aug 12-13 Lake St. Clair Selfridge DNR PA or 9 Mile ramp

Wonderland changed the date of their August open to Sunday, August 6th. The federation board decided to keep the original August dates since there would be no conflict with the Wonderland Open now.

The date and ramps are tentative.

Sep 29-30 Lake Charlevoix Classic - ramp tba

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

A little confused, can you qualify for this years state championship on Saginaw bay by fishing the classic series this year or is it offset a year like club events?
Thanks,Matt

Matt,
The classic series and the state fish-off at Saginaw bay are a lot of the same guys...
but are two completely different things.
One gets qualified for the State Fish-off (like the one at Saginaw bay in August) by qualifying through what I would call a "locally sanctioned club".

Let's get this straight first before I confuse myself and everybody else along the way.

The Classic Series is just strictly six tournaments and a championship at the end of the year.
Yes it is put on by the federation, it is a team event, and it does not qualify you for anything besides its own championship. It has nothing to do with the State fish-off

I qualified for the state fish-off.
Qualifications.
Must be a Federation member in good standing on both the National and State level, plus a member of BASS.
You must fish in a club sanctioned through the Michigan Bass Chapter Federation.
My club qualifies people for the State fish-off  by order of finishing.
This year I finished 10th overall,
My club generally takes 8 people to the fish-off.
4 people that finished ahead of me are not Federation members.
I'm automatically in for next years fish-off at Saginaw Bay.
Clear as mud right.

I also fish the Federation Classic Series, to get my "lower unit" kicked in and learn from some of the best fisherman in the state. That is in my opinion the only way I'll get better.

Once you get to the State fish-off... there's a whole lot more to describe.

Okay... everybody that sees I left something out... or got it wrong... it is your turn to explain.
