I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Well after a long day of Fishing on LSC with Revtro on Friday before the DK Open, I headed to Gander Mountain to pick up some Flares in order to make me legal out on the water for Saturday. While there my wife was looking at the Fish Finders and wanted to know if I had one of the "Cool" ones with GPS or not. I told her no, but I did want to get one eventually. She said "Well wouldnt you be much safer out there on the water knowing where your going?" Of course I said most definately  ;D ;D, so she gave me the green light to get one. I wanted to just get the Eagle Fish Elite 480 combo, but they only have the display model, they didnt have any of the Lowrnace 480's either, so I ended up getting the Eagle Fishelite 502C w/ the internal GPS, a Lakemaster Chip, and a Ram Mount for mounting it.

Installation was easy being I already had a small Eagle Cuda wired in, luckily they use the same transducer. Just a quick trip to Home Depot for some bolts to attach it to the Ram Mount and I was all set for the morning. Being I stuck to the Canals all day I didnt really need it that much nor did I get a chance to play with it too much, but I do like the color unit, and the internal GPS seemed to work pretty good. I am planning on going to Kent Lk after work on Friday so I will spend some time messing with it then.

Anyone have any tips for setting them up properly?

Our wives should talk.  And we should fish.  You can teach me the ways of the master.

Hey Langer

How about bringing the wife over and introduce her to my wife. Maybe she can explain how important a new GPS and Fish Finder is to have on my boat. ;D ;D

McCarter and Thomas listen up!

Here's what you do.  Head out to Erie.  Get the wife to go along... I dont care how you do it.  Promise her it's research for a cure for cancer, whatever, the point is just get her out there with you.

Next, get lost out in the middle of Erie with no land in sight.

The next step will have required pre-prep of disconnecting the WAAS/GPS antenna, having that done you can go nuts and start crazy sobbing and cussing Garmin or Eagle or whoever made your current one.  Make it look really good, like you are really upset and a-lot-a-bit skeered.

Next, get her involved, make her believe you really need her help, be frantic.  Beg her to remember how you got there and if she remembers which direction to go.  Really get her involved!!!  Be genuine, if you can.

Next, call the coast guard.  Make it a fiasco.  Embarrass the living crap out of her.  Let them board your vessel and cover her in blankets and all that good stuff like on TV.

All of this will accomplish 2 things at the very least.  1)  She will never ask to go fishing with you ever again.  2) POSSIBLY and I do mean POSSIBLY she will tell you it's imperative that you have a GPS if you ever want her on your boat again.

If 2) happens then you must plead with her constantly to go out fishing with you.

I dont know if there are a 3) and 4) to all that but I wouldnt stick around if there were.

Problem solved.

B,
If I was to try that with my wife she would tell me to give my boat away and still make the payments on it so I couldnt afford to buy another one. She would for sure say "You are never going fishing again, it is to dangerous" ;D

I'll admit there is some risk involved.  ::)
