What is the scoop on MI bass fishing?

Has anyone ventured out to find any smallies yet?  This beautiful afternoon (and a weekend of Dale Hollow fishing) has me thinking about chasing smallies.

You can in Ohio.  And Indiana.  And Missouri.  And Arkansas.  And Illinois.  And every other state with a sense of what bass "seasons" actually do for the bass, which is nothing.

Caught quite a few in Arkansas and Missouri a couple weeks ago.

Pike doesn't open till Saturday.

Pike fishing is open all year on St. Clair and the Lower Peninsula Great Lakes. I won't go into all the exceptions but reading and rereading the latest Michigan fishing guide is highly recommended! www.Michigan.gov/fishingguide
