I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

By Feb. the bass fishing blues have a lot of us feeling like there may be no end to the dark frozen lifelessness aka Michigan Winters and I've found the only thing that helps is to plan a trip to anywhere but here.  Went down to Pickwick last March and the simple thought of knowing I'd be on the water before our thaw began made last years winter a whole lot easier to get through - wouldn't mind heading to Texas or Florida but the chances of that being feasible are slim to none.

Newton Lake is on the agenda for a visit in Feb. or March and it would be awesome if we could put together a small migration or convoy to head down for some fun friendly competition - don't know IL seasonal regulations on possesion but there's always the paper or plastic options none the less.

Anyone interested in putting something together?

No doubt Newton is the best winter location that is within a 5 hour drive for us Michiganders. The fishing is phenominal but alot of pressure and hard to get enough boats together with a 25hp engine to accomidate a large group. A bunch of us went two winters ago and we made it work. Decided on G-ville last year and it was a bust, the pressure on these fish was unlike anything we had ever seen before. It seemed like there were 100 bass boats within sight at all times in every location we fished. So a bunch of us are planning on going back to Newton in Feb or March.
FISH HARD!!!

Just make sure your trolling motor batteries are at full charge and you can use your bass boat.  Slow going but it beats NOT going!

I wondered about the bass boat if you go electric only. Z got away with it. But he is special... and crazy! ;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I was told by a fellow fisherman that likes to fish in the cold that as long as you don't start your big motor, you can fish from your bass boat.  That means you can't use it to get off the trailer, get on the trailer, or motor around the lake at no wake speeds.  Leave the keys at home kind of thing.  Now, I could be all wrong but I'm sure a phone call to someone "in the know" down that way could clear it up.  Dan, make the call!!

Maybe for 2013... I already have my winter trip planned. I'm all set, but that is usually how they govern that rule on many lakes. It pays to be sure though. My boat is a beast without a little big motor help on the trailer - idle speed of course.
