Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I announced to the existing Michigan Bass federation board and then presidents today that I am resigning effective today from my conservation director post since ESPN/BASS has made it clear that I can not represent the existing federation if I intend to be involved at the state level of the Michigan TBF.

I plan on offering my services as a potential board member and conservation director to the Michigan TBF once it forms.

I was not a member of the existing federation, but an appointed conservation director, but BASS seems to consider that a state officer position.

Interestingly, the board asked me to stay on and do my job for now (basically, they feel they get to decide who does the job, not BASS... if only it were that easy) until they get a replacement. It may be a while. One person said he might take the position in the future. I plan on doing an update article for the next BASS LINES since I'm working on and aware of the issues.

My club - The Bass Boys - has decided to become a TBF club instead of BASS, but I'm joining The Combat Fishing Team club too to stay a member of the existing federation. BASS may not officially recognize me as the conservation director, but I will still be a member of the existing state federation.

It?s amazing how many people and things are affected by this, I for one think that they are loosing a major asset all in the name of politics.

I?m just happy we will still have your knowledge and wisdom working for the anglers of Michigan one way or another.

I don't know much 'bout no politics.
Don't know much bout tournaments & federations.

But I do know people.
Dan you have to be the most gracious, giving, hard working fisherman I've ever met.

Any organization that can't figure out how to keep quality people like yourself has suffered a great loss.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

I'm sure I'll be involved with them in various ways still. I joined Wayne's Combat Fishing club to stay a member (well, he probably actually wants me to pay, I'm thinking...)

I do greatly appreciate the kind words.
