Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Big dreams

Wixom lake is cooling off a bit.  Water temps ranged in the mid 60's basically throughout the lake.  The sun was out today with slight wsw winds.  I launched at the DNR ramp and headed to the flats on the main lake down by the West dam.  I was hoping I would find baitfish along the weed lines going into the cut.  I wasn't able to find much here.  I did latch onto a nice rockbass though.

I then headed North on the Tobacco side.  I never have much luck on the Tittibawasee side.  I found another flat without much grass.  It was mostly sand with drops on two sides of it.  I was able to land one 15" fish here on a natural craw texas rigged with 1/8 bullet sinker.  I tried a few more techniques here: jerkbait, swimbait, and multiple cranks.  I didn't have much luck after that first fish.

I then moved up into the creeks further and found loads of baitfish.  I didn't see any bass crashing the schools nor did I catch any bass.

I think the water temp on Wixom and the daylight hasn't reached the fall pattern we are all looking for.  A few more weeks and the fish should be in full fall swing.

One fish in roughly 3 hours isn't terrible lately.  Last two tournaments I have caught 50+ dinks and only two over 14".  Hopefully I broke the dink curse!!!

I am the broken record here...

Drop shot?

Big dreams

I have tried the drop shot rig lately but have only caught dinks on it.  I threw it a few times on Wixom and didn't have any takers.

I did run across some brush piles on Secord last weekend in DEEP water.  I threw the old drop shot down and within 15 seconds had another 6 inch dink.  He wasn't big at all but that is the first time I seen something that deep and caught something.  Good times!
