Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Fished the south shore today from 7:30 till 2:00 between Askins Point and Pike's Creek.  Partner and I caught 39 Bass.  Largest was 21".  Caught quite a few in the 16-18" range.
We fished all Canadian water.  We were in 6-12 fow with the most, and the biggest fish coming in 8-9'.  Water temps were 73 F.  Tubes and drop shot were the preferred techniques although a couple were caught on cranks.  It didn't seem to mater what plastic was used on the DS.  They bit beavers, tubes, wacky riged Dingers, gobies.

We saw many more fish than we caught.  Could not get anybody to smack a jerk bait though.

About 5 or 6 of the fish spit up a lot of May Flies.  A lot.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

That's my favorite place to fish this time of year.  I'm glad to hear it's on down there.  Did you guys call in first?  How did that go?

I did call in and it was smooth as silk.  Total call didn't take even a minute of my time.

So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

That's good to hear. Thanks for the fishing report and the extra helpful info!!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I thought you might like the info for this week's video.

By the way, I watch you and Wayne every week.  Thanks for the tips.

Yes! I really did appreciate it!!! I have to get people whipped back up on here! I guess everyone is out fishing?!? ;D

You are going to be the 'star' of this weekend's show. I think? Since I'm the slow guy again this week I hope our magic editor Marine Cruiser Dan can squeeze in some editing around his vacation?!?  :o

Glad you watch it. I'm hoping by next week to have a little more brain-wrackin' time to provide continuingly better information. We started on short notice this year but it seem like a good idea of Wayne's.

Interesting, this evening I got a phoned in fishing report after I had already turned in my videos for the week. It was a really good fishing report. Bass were biting real, real good, even in slick water! This weekend should be the start of a more consistent summer bite.
