I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Hey guys, my buddy and I are heading to Higgins lake for the first time ever for both of us. I was wondering if any of u had any tips or areas to start at tomorrow? Anything will b a BIG help. Thanks kb

bigmojet

Depends on water temps. Higgins is similar to one of my home lakes - crystal lake in benzie. Cold/ clear and deep.

Last weekend crystal was 55-57 degrees and fish just starting to make beds. I'm hoping this weekend is the bomb.

I kno they have started on Higgins. Would it b good just to go shallow and look for spawners? Just was wondering if anyone could narrow the lake down and could tell us a good starting point.

Southwest or West side of the lower arm is a BIG flat ... go there - cast - catch fish!

Thanks guys! I'll give a report when we get back! Hopefully the boat traffic won't b to bad?   Is top water an option?

djkimmel

Possibly, anytime you're in clear water. If you have a good warming trend it is more likely. If you get the rain/storms we might get, might not work so good this time of year. Never hurts to try though. Bass have tiny brains. Who knows what they are thinking?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

We ended up catching 16 lbs.  4.2 & 4.1 were r two biggest fish. We pulled up on the stops u guys mentioned and got most of em. Then we just kinda explored alittle as well. Weather was nice when we first got there but as day went on and boat traffic picked up it got had to c by the afternoon. Water temp was 66 degrees.   Is the spawn there about over?

djkimmel

Shouldn't be all over yet as cold as the spring was. Might be a little more scattered though there could be some small hotspots.
