Gulp VS Gulp Alive?

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to Gulp Alive VS regular Gulp when drop-shotting for Smallys? I'm speaking specifically in reference to the Minnow and Goby baits.

I'm asking because as best as I can tell regular Gulp doesn't come in the bulk packs like the Gulp Alive does. I have have caught a lot of fish on Gulp, but almost never on Gulp Alive. It could just be a confidence thing, but I didn't want to invest in something if there was a change in the formula or something like that.

Anyone else have the same experience when they attempted a transition from Gulp to Gulp Alive? I'd love to hear some opinions on this, Thanks!

I've fished with alive with great success the past two summers. It is nice not having to worry about your baits drying up.

Neither.

I've given up on gulp of any kind.  Can't say I've ever caught anything on the gulp gobys.  The minnow worked, but in my experience it works better on drum and cats than smallmouth.

YMMV, but I'm tired of the stinkey stuff in my boat.

Interesting ..... Cause I'm exclusively a red bag guy and never bought another green bin after recognizing the same pattern. Plus as a co-angler, I'm pressed for space so the red bags fit too. There are 4 very mportant DS baits I use that ARE NOT Gulp! But when I do use it, there is just one goby color and one baitfish size / color used. I also wish I could say the other plastics I've thrown in the Alive buckets caught more fish, but they didn't.

I've used Gulp in the past but don't much any more. 

There are baits out there that fish just fine without drying out and stinking up the place.  I have packages that have been unopened for several years now. 

There is a time and place for all baits.
Right now on Clair, it's hard to beat the Xtreme 2" drop shot tubes in Canadian Mist.  Although the Strike King bitsey tubes were doing pretty good yesterday also.

As far as a difference between the two types I don't know. 

I do know that if a nonboater showed up to ride in my boat with a container of the Gulp Alive stuff I'd ask him not to bring it on board unless he was willing to replace the carpet if it spilled.

That's exactly why I keep all my bags of plastic baits in a small rubbermade tub. Keeps everything dry, and if if spills, my boater's carpet thanks me with it's containment. Not to mention, it makes for a great bailer in a pinch if we ever get into trouble! My boater's livewell pump quit working once, and we had to to bail water in. Probably saved us being late and kept the fish alive and well.

I've used the Gulp Alive minnows before - never noticed the difference between the red bag gulp and the alive in terms of catch rate.  I also didn't notice a difference between Gulp or my other go-to soft plastics.  Since I don't like the smell I've really gotten away from using Gulp in favor of my other less messy baits.

I haven't noticed a difference in either though I have noticed I rarely catch more bass on Gulp! than other baits. Once in a great while I've done well on them but I've also done better plenty of times on other soft plastics.

I haven't fished enough the past few seasons to report back valid test results though. I am still testing. Probably be awhile before my testing is completed at this rate but I plan on including them in my tests because I have them, and because some of the really good anglers out there whisper little secrets about various Gulp! baits they keep in their arsenal.

Anyone who goes through the trouble to keep those smelly, slippery things around must have good reasons to do so. I intend to find out.

Well i throw some of the Gulp

Berkley does say that there's no difference in the product of Gulp and the Gulp alive
The Gulp comes in the bags
And Gulp alive comes in a contianer with juice

I myself find there's no difference
It is cheaper to buy the bags
And if you have a contianer with the jiuce you can recharge the bait or save it for next time out

There containers sucks, you need to but the one Plano sells
I've tried allot of other options and it's the only one I've found to not leak
And you can buy the just the recharge juice. But the only place I've ever seen it for sale is at WalMart

I do well with the gobys and some of the worms
LM love the stuff as well, but they like different colors
