I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Actually its the Veterans that need your help, the Brain Injury Association inconjunction with the Paralyzed Veterans of America are hosting their annual Bass Tournament, June 8th on Kent Lake.

This is not just an ordinary come fish and go home tournament, its a huge family affair that your families are invited to participate while your providing a wonderful opportunity for some very deserving/appreciative people....our veterans.

Believe me the experience you will have as you help someone with or without health challenges to enjoy a day on the water is indescribable.

And they really do it up right, with a stage and announcer, gifts and prizes the whole enchilada.

WE NEED MORE BOATERS !   WE NEED YOU !  WE NEED YOUR FRIENDS AND/OR CLUB MEMBERS.

PLEASE DON'T JUST IGNORE THIS REQUEST, STEP UP TO THE PLATE ( wait a minute, thats baseball ) WHATEVER, JUST DO IT and plan for the whole family to join you.....

ALSO...if you have any new tackle that you would like to donate for prizes, will be welcome.
CONTACT CAPT CHARLIE !

ps....I have secret hot spots maps of Kent Lake

I will be there. Again!
I am attaching the entry form for this years event, as well. This years event is 2 days before KVD's Detroit Lions event, which none of us can fish this year, it seems, so if you can't fish with KVD or a Lion's player, then you can at least fish with a veteran.
Please go to the website for more information and also to see some great photos from the 2012 event. Look for me in the star-spangled bandana on stage with local pro Mike Kujawski as we placed 3rd. Im throwing down the challenge flag to anyone who thinks they can beat me and whoever i get paired with for 2013. Come get some!

Has anyone heard anything from the people running the event.  I have heard nothing.

Frank-o

Dartag, i spoke with Major Briggs on the phone about 2 weeks ago when he called to confirm my registration and also i have received several emails about the tournament, most notably needing more boaters & veterans to fill the field. Here is an excerpt from an email from him:

"We have lots of openings for Veterans to fish the 7th Annual "Tips-Up for the Troops" on Saturday, June 8th, at Kensington Metropark in Brighton..... we need Vets and military service members to volunteer to come out, go fishing, enjoy the BBQ and friends, all for free. Bring the family..... take one for the team. Register at www.biami.org and click on the veterans section and the Tips-Up button, or just go to https://www.z2systems.com/np/clients/biami/eventRegistration.jsp?event=85 .

Also, one of you lucky Veteran/military service members in attendance will win a $500 PSE cross bow with scope and arrows donated by the wonderful folks at PSE, along with the other goodies we give out.

You do not have to have a disability or Purple Heart to participate in this event. There is a volleyball tournament, Classic Car Show, Family Fun Walk, and of course the Eisenhower Center's "All American BBQ" and pig roast. Food, fun, and friends are free. Donations are not necessary but always appreciated.

Also, we need sponsors and donors for all kinds of picnic food items from buns to beans and paper plates to pop. Contact me for more information at 810-229-5880. Hope to see you there.

If anyone has not heard from Major Briggs, i urge you to call and confirm your registration. If you haven't registered or are not on the list on tournament morning, don't fret, they will still let you sign up and fish. As always we are still looking for more veterans to take fishing for the day. If you know a vet please thank him and invite him out for a day of fishing.

I signed up as a boater.  Just curious what the schedule is.  I will call tomorrow.  I will post what I find out.  Looking forward to taking someone fishing.

I talked to the nice lady and she said.we should hear something today on times and the schedule

TimH

I signed up last week as a boater, and am also looking forward to taking a veteran out fishing.  This will be my first time doing this event, and I am very much looking forward to it.

Frank-o

Major Briggs called me again today...they are very short on boaters this year - 34 boaters and 47 veterans signed up so far. I have been asked to be a boater just to help lessen the doubling-up of veterans in the bigger boats ( i have an 18' class Stratos).
If you know of anyone who is willing to come fishing for a day, please invite them and have them sign up with Major Briggs' office. Also, June 8th is a free fishing weekend and a fishing license IS NOT required, please pass that along to out-of-staters who may be interested.

Thanks !!
