Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

am thinking of going to floro for my jig rod and was wondering if a polmar knot would work or should i use a trilene  instead. also what lb would be good for throwing 3/8 -1/2 ounce, thanks guys..karol

Genie

Palomar knot - make sure you wet any knot especially floro.  I throw 10 lb pretty much on everything.

i would always use a palomar- it was awesome until i would get in a rush and make a weak point in the line and it would breakinside the knot...most of the time awesome but then saw a Zona video for a shark knot or something never had a problem since...

6 lb Smallmouth

I know guys use the Palomar with FC and don't report problems but the Palomar ranks low on knot strength whenever they have knot challenges.  I've used a double improved clinch knot with FC and had great success but the double tag ends do catch more weeds.  For the last year or so I've been using a knot a buddy showed me and he calls it the Guide's knot.  It's an easy-to-tie knot and it has been flawless since I started using it.  I've searched for but have never found any info on the knot.  LOL- I should make a Youtube video.

I recently saw a video clip from Shaw Grisby about the knot he uses with FC.  It looked easy.  Think it was on the BASS Facebook link.

You mean this shark knot? I haven't practiced this one enough yet.

And here's a long video about why some people have troubles with the Palomar knot. It is a very strong knot if you don't create crossovers in the knot and other avoidable mistakes.

there it is works great for me.. no weak spot in the knot to break if i mess up trying to tie the palomar it to quickly.

Dan

Hey, whoever took that video of Zona tying the "Shark Knot," and posted it, sure was insightful and forward looking. Pretty good looking as well.

The guy who took the video?!? You can't even see the guy who took the video!?! How do we know if the guy is good looking?

Been tying the palomar for just about everything for a long time now.  Never have it break.  Just get it wet when you cinch it down.  Simple knot to tie, wins the knot wars all the time.  And it doesn't take a chick with big... um.... hands to teach some one.   ;D

I have been successful with the Palomar & San Diego Jam knots

djkimmel

I keep forgetting to learn the San Diego and shark knots... I have to start carrying my new stuff to try list with me when I go fishing.

If something works for you, why change.   ???  Been pretty successful all these years with the 3 knots I use, palomar, improved clinch, and the uni-knot.

I use Polymer know 99% of the time.  Any line; Any lure.  Never have problems.  With mono, flouro and copoly lines, you have to make sure to Wet the line well before cinching it down!
