Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Just before the October Natural Resources Committee meeting on Thursday, October 9, Commissioner John Walters added an amendment to Fisheries Order 206 – “Bass - Closed bass CIR season from May 1 – Friday before the third Saturday in June for Burt, Mullet, Crooked, Pickerel, and Black Lakes and their connecting waters.”

We are in need of 25 – 30 currently serving military members and Veterans of all abilities to participate in the 2012 "Tips-Up for the Troops" Charity Bass Fishing Tournament on June 9th at Kensington Metro Park. "Tips-Up for the Troops" - 6th Annual Charity Bass Fishing Tournament is for Veterans and Military Service personnel. Kensington Metropark, Brighton, Michigan; Saturday, June 9th, 2012 – Weigh-in show and other activities are "Open to the Public"; 9:00am – 4:30pm. Please join us in a day of celebration with food, fun, entertainment, and games for the whole family. Family Fun Walk information -June 9th 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Contact Erin Moore with questions at 734-677-0070 ext. 381. "Tips-Up for the Troops" was inaugurated into the 2011 Fresh Water Fishing "Hall of Fame" for special community support programs!
