Inland Waterway Bass Fishing Closure Defeated

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

First fishing report. Went out to metro beach and fished the marina closest to Lake St Clair (south marina i think). Was there from 4pm till about 7pm and did pretty good on the perch. Caught about 25 keepers. Biggest was 11 inchest most were in the 8-10 inch range and there was suprizingly little sorting. I caught maybe 4 dinks. Was using a 1/2 ounce weight on the bottom and two bare hooks above that on a home made perch rig; minnows for bait.
