I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Will the tournament in Ohio decide who is the Michigan representatives, or is there going to be a Michigan tournament to qualify for the Ohio tournament? Clear as mud right!

Yes I know. This came up very fast. We will not have time to hold a qualifying tournament. We are still trying to figure out exactly how we will choose who goes to Ohio for the Northern Division Weekend Warrior qualifier (WWC). It may just be a drawing from names of anglers who want to go and can go. You have to be able to pay $100 and fish July 14-15 in Ohio. And then be able to go to Texas for several days in September to fish the Bassfan WWC. No entry fee, but most expenses will be up to the anglers (we are not sure about rooms yet). We will pitch in some expense money from the entry fees from the Ohio event.

There may not be that many people who can go so quick to Ohio and could also go to Texas if they qualify.

We will be picking 4 anglers as fairly as possible under the present circumstances from anglers who say they want to go and who can go. As soon as possible, we will start taking names of people who want to and can go. We first have to get in 50 members and be accepted by TBF as a federation although we do not have to wait for all the 'paperwork.' We asked.

1 boater and non-boater from Michigan will be designated as fishing for the 2006 WWC spots, and 1 boater and 1 non-boater will be designated as fishing for the 2007 WWC spots (same for each TBF Northern state). Two tournaments basically within one event.

We are doing this because our TBF Northern Division (which will be one normal qualifier in the future) is right against the WWC tournament this year for reasons beyond our control. The Northern Division wanted to give anglers more time after they qualify to prepare for going to Texas.

Right now, there are 5 TBF federations in the Northern Division that can send anglers. So there will be 10 anglers fishing for the 2006 WWC spots and 10 anglers fishing for the 2007 WWC spots during the Ohio qualifying tournament. A 6th federation may be ready in time, so that would still be only 12 anglers fishing for each WWC event (2 available slots).

1 boater and 1 non-boater (co-angler) will go to the 2006 WWC from the 10 or 12 fishing in Ohio, and 1 boater and 1 non-boater (co-angler) will go to the 2007 WWC from the 10 or 12 fishing in Ohio.

Odds are pretty darn good for someone to make it to Texas and a shot at $100,000!!!

Did I clear any of the mud Jeff? Or did I add some red clay?

In the future, we will qualify individuals from Michigan through a tournament somehow, probably in conjunction with our state championship.

Dan:

Have we qualified anyone to go to Ohio in 2 weeks?  I would like to know the details of what was decided - random drawing of those who want to go,....

I suggested we poll all the existing members to see who wants to and can go ($100 entry - two-day event - need 4 anglers), and then draw 4 anglers.

I'll email everyone else tomorrow on our committee. I only know of one 'volunteer' for sure right now (not me, can't go). Thanks for reminding me. Dennis and I talked about it late last week and he was getting the paperwork together that he had so we had all the details to work with.

Okay - Dennis is looking up the registration and rules to see what we can still do if we aren't too late. They are also asking us for some youth anglers for later in the month that we really need to consider.

Anyone else want to go (the WWC I'm talking about here)?

Well, it took some effort, but we have 4 anglers competing tomorrow morning in Ohio for the 2 North Div TBF spots in the 2006 WWC and the 2 North Div TBF spots in the 2007 WWC.

This afternoon, the Army Corps of Engineers apparently closed the tournament lake due to water levels rising too fast under flood conditions. The tournament tomorrow was moved to Alum Cr Reservior.

Good luck to Jon Jezierski, Joshua Kolodzaike, Eric Smith (Eric) and Jack Cahn (plasticjack2) tomorrow.

The 2006 BassFan WWC event is apparently being moved from Texas to an undisclosed (until contracts are signed) location closer to Michigan. Not sure why, but severe drought conditions in Texas have been previous cited as a potential challenge.
