I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Hmmm I have most of the money I need saved up for some cold weather gear.  I was looking at the two gortex brands that BPS offered, but then saw the post Dan made about Cabelas 50th anniversary sale.  Great deals.
Anyone on here own Cabelas?  How do you like them, and how do they compare to what BPS has?  Also, would you suggest the insulated??  I would imagine that the parkas are more popular than the shorter jackets.  Thanks in advance for any feedback.  If I go with the Cabelas, I'll make sure to use your link Dan.  :)

I've had my Cabela's Dry Plus bibs and jacket for 8 years now.  I've never had a problem with either, and would have no hesitations to buy another set of Cabela's gear.  Very nice gear, especially for the money.

Wow, I just checked out those prices!  Crazy, I may just have to replace my old gear.

I have several Cabelas brand things and I like everyone of them.  I think they have the best private label stuff.  I have also read that several BASS pros will only use the Cabelas Guidewear rain gear!  With all that said I bought a BPS Pro Qualifier GoreTex bibs and parka this spring and I have been very happy with it.

Yep, great deals Dan.  I used your link from another post.  Now will you get some "kudos" if I go through this site, correct???

From doing a little research, I've decided to go with non insulated.  Now I have to decide between a jacket and a parka..... any thoughts???

Cy

Parka for sure.  Doesn't ride up in the back when you sit down.  It sucks when you have cold wind blowing up your back.

I like non insulated.  I just buy them big enough I can layer stuff under my gear.  That way I can use them year around.

Thanks Cy,  think i'm leaning towards the parka.  Want to get a little more feedback first though.

I have never liked rain jackets or rain pants. I can still remember enough of the early cold and wet days to keep me from repeating those mistakes. I like mine a little large too for movement and layering considering there are more months in the Great Lakes region that don't have the warm weather assurance.

Jeff,
I have a BPS 100 MPH suit....I bought my wife Insulated Guidewear last year when it was on sale....
In my Opinion the Guidewear is way superior to the 100 mph suit....Stay away from the insulated suit though....That was a mistake on my part...My wife likes it early and late season but during the tournament year it is way too much...

I need a rain jacket for off the water use....I may have to check it out...

Cabelas Guidewear is outstanding. I used mine for over 12 years before it got, uh...too small. :P The prices listed for this sale are better than that first set! I guess I'll have to scrape up some change and take back some bottles. These prices are too good to pass up!
And I agree with the others, the parka is the best choice.

Okay, just wanted to give a heads-up to those who are going to order anything on this deal. Make sure you type in the promo code 50years at checkout. This will get you a $.50 shipping charge instead of the normal charge.
I just ordered the Guidewear Parka and Bibs. The shipping charge would have been $16.95. So, by using the Promo Code 50years it was reduced to $.50. Pretty nice savings.

djkimmel

Thanks cameraguy!! I got a separate notice late on that and forgot to mention an additional big savings! I hope no one missed out on that. We can all use some savings! I'd buy a new set too but the previous raingear I got from Cabelas is still working great!

Go with the parka jeff... you won't be sorry.  And stick with non-insulated, you can always layer up for warmth.  I have the BPS Gortex and have been very happy with it.  I am about half way between the Medium and Large... but bought the Large so I could layer up if needed.  No regrets.

You're all making me jealous! But my raingear still works pretty good so I'll be okay. Thanks!

I have another big chain store brand that is not bps or cabelas.  Last year at the fall open it leaked pretty good.  No kidding it rained all day.  Now granted its 5 years old so im not upset.  I used it later and it no longer is water proof.  I tried retreating it twice to no avail.  Light rain beads off.  Slightly heavier comes right thru. So im glad I saw the post.

Nothing much worse than being cold AND wet while fishing... glad you're getting it taken care of :)
