Hey guys,

I fish out of a 96 Ranger.
I started fishing lake erie a lot lately around the western basin and got to thinking man I hope I never break down out here and what would I do if I did.

I then started looking into Towing options and who to call in the event of an emergency.

Anyway I was wondering who you guys prefer for on water assistance and even roadside like a trailer problem?

I was hoping my actual nationwide watercraft ins would cover on water or roadside but they do not.
I have AAA and still have to call them about the roadside.

The main company that seems to keep poping up is BoatU.S. for on water incidents anyone have any info on boatUS or maybe a good plan to choose?

Thanks all

I believe when I was going through my Worldwide Marine Underwriters policy the other week that towing was covered to a certain amount.  May want to look into that, figure if you use it once it has probably more than covered the difference in policies, if it's not cheaper already.  I had to place a claim through them and they were phenomenal to work with.  I highly recommend them.

You should give Bob Luellen a call at Worldwide Marine Underwriters. He's the expert in marine coverage for what is available and how best to be covered for your situation - 800-339-1235.

There can be surprises at bad times when you throw in the Great Lakes and all the equipment we tend to own. Bob specializes in no surprises.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

I have a Boat US membership. For $38 a year you get towed in from anywhere as many times as you need. For a little more you get free roadside too. With my Ranger being an 87  I would be crazy not to.

I called a towing company on LSC a few seasons ago and asked what the charges would be for a tow from the Belle River Hump in Canada, to 9 mile ramp in the US. The owner of the towing company said a minimal of $400 and could be a few hundred more depending on the conditions. He also said he carries the BoatUS policy on himself and highly recommended it.
Also I was talking with Gerry Gostenik of Great Lakes Bass Fishing guide service and he was telling of a day he broke down way off shore with clients on board and one of them had the policy which the towing company and BoatUS honored. You just call them and they show up. If you fish the Great Lakes regularly, for $50 a year, it is a must have.

I have Progressive boat ins. and the water towing was an add on rider to the policy. You could probably go back to the insurance provider and see about adding it to your policy.

Waterfoul

Stop in at any West Marine, sign up for a Boat US Membership ($24) and add the unlimited On The Water Towing for an additional $34.  $58 total and they will come get you and tow you as many times as you may need for free!!  Also... if you should happen to be in a friends boat and IT breaks down... you can use YOUR Boat US membership to get HIS boat towed in.  Boat US doesn't care who's boat you're in... they will come get YOU off the lake.

It's a no brainer.
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

Skulley

I just joined Boats U.S.  For the money it's kind of a no brainer.  I would recommend this to all.
