Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

well I got pimped - kinda - this week when I went to use my lifetime warranty for my spinner bait baitcasting elite tech fenwick rod - broke the tip. Fenwick said they no longer carry the 1/2 glass - 1/2 graphite $199 rod, but will offer any other rod in their line up as a replacement. fair enough, but my choices are:

fish      name         line       lure      length           back         tip             price

Bass - GT70M-MF  8-20   1/4-1       7ft- 1pc        Medium Moderate Fast   109.95

Bass    GT66M-F    8-20   1/4-7/8    6ft 6in- 1pc  Medium               Fast   109.95

Bass    GT76XHTF  12-30  3/8-2       7ft 6in- 1pc Xtra Heavy           Fast   119.95

Wally   EWC66MMF  8-14   1/8-5/8    6ft 6in         Medium         Med Fast 149.95

Need help - has anyone bought a fenwick HMG ? The first 3 are HMG and I could use this rod for light cranks and spinnerbait. I wonder about the quality ? Also I dont have a flippin stick - would this be a good starter stick (the 7-6).Lastly - I threw in the wally stick because of the quality and its elite tech. I really liked that spinnerbait rod I lost - never lost 1 fish on it. SO I wanted to stay with elite techs ? But what difference will I see with a walleye crankstick vs bass stick ?

Look for experience and expert help. No horseplay. Thanks

Mojo

I don't know about the blanks but the walleye version has a strange handle. I have several Fenwicks: HMX, HMG, Elite Tech, and TechnaAV. I like the HMG but it's not an Elite Tech. I just looked at their website and it looks like they have pretty much gotten out of higher end bass fishing rods. That's a shame since I know they have been around a while and I really like the Elite Techs. Fenwick seems to have an interesting history including building the first graphite rod.

I don't know what to suggest, maybe ask them for 2 HMGs?

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. hey Mojo,
Get the one that is easiest to sell for the most money and put the cash towards a rod you really want. Just my 2cents.

Skulley

I use a rod that was manufactured by a company from a year or two ago called Teton.  They are spinning rods and are for walleye.  I fish tubes and small cranks on them and they are so sensitive that you can feel the bass mouthing the bait when retrieving the lure.  Unfortunately Teton went out of business in early 2010.  I also have one of their casting rods I use for spinnerbaits and top waters.  Teton rods were built specifically for walleye.  And I agree that bass don't know that the rod your using was made for walleye.   ;)

got it- so I would get the walleye rod and adjust to using it for finnesse presentation, and maybe use my MadWagsRazr for spinner bait .....  I was just asking about the wally rod because maybe their med back bone ends up being too limp for bass fishing ? their mf tips are too weak for 5 lb aggresive diving smallish etc ......   But it sounds like your saying on a scale,  a med back bone is a med backbone be it bass or wally etc ??????

I like the idea of asking for two.....

I appreciate all the good input from everyone including tonto so I'll prolly get the either the wally rod or 2 HMGs ....

Got Fish??

Hi Mojo,  I do not know if this info, Will help you out . When my father and I chartered for walleye on Erie and St Clair. We almost always used med-lite rods when fishing with clients. Having more action in the rod, keeping the drag looser. Aloud our customers to put more fish in the boat. Not only can you feel the fish but that rig was more forgiving. We rarely lost fish!

Mojo

Ive moved to almost all med rod except flippin, froggin and jerk bait rods. I ended up asking for the AVC 70mmf techna ....

Also said if thats not in stock then I hope for the Bass    GT70M-F 109.95 + flippin stick  GT76XHTF  Xtra Heavy  Fast   119.95. Offered an extra $20 for shipping.

Side note:

K-D outdoors has this fenwick AVS70mmf spinning rod in stock and OMG it is sensitive, light, mf tip but oh so balanced. It will be perfect for spinnerbaits or light crank baits. Normally $229, he has only 3 left for $159.
