Checking if any interest

I have been thinking about starting a club whos focus is learing and fishing the Saginaw Bay.  I know alot of people dont like the Bay and like myself are alittle afraid of it, is there any interest in a club that would have 4-5 tournys on the Bay but unlike normal tournys that have the entire Bay open to fish spliting it up into smaller sections.  Maybe one tourny would be in Tawas Bay, one just the Charities (motor out as group and come back as group), Mouth of the river to Gull island, and one in Wildfowl Bay and North Island.  this would give all opp. to fish these different sections without being too overwhelming.  I figure the river would be our blow lake if weather does not play in our favor one of these days.  Anyway just a thought, any interest?

I think interest in the Bay is growing again. I would think most people shouldn't be afraid of it, but like any other part of the Great Lakes, it should be respected, you should be prepared and make wise choices in your fishing.

I would fish Saginaw Bay a lot more if it was close enough that I could pick and choose my days a little more. I miss the Bay. Caught my biggest Michigan largemouth bass there years ago near Fish Point. Many great memories there and the Bay taught me quite a bit about running rough water, making better decisions and things I did not know before like the wind 'tide' on the Great Lakes and how to take advantage of it. Hitting the Rocks scares me on Saginaw Bay.....I don't have to worry about that too much with LSC or Erie....

Rocks on Saginaw Bay few years ago when moved up here figured out about those the hard way.  It will make you very careful..

You know, years ago when the inner Bay was usually muddy, we didn't even know a lot of those boulders were there!

Sounds like the advice we used to give the A-10 pilots when flying Ground support missions under Artillery fire...."Big sky, little bullet"...

There is a core group of guys who fish the bay particularly in the spring, after St. Clair opens I'm one of the few guys who fish it regularly.  Doesn't bother me though, imagine having erie all too yourself.  The rocks on Saginaw aren't as dangerous as guys make them out to be, some good old common sense and a good map chip will take care of it.  The tournaments you mentioned would have to be planned well, the bass on the bay are just like the walleye and move great distances throughout the season.

I will get out on the Bay at least once or twice in 2011. Miss it. (Just not on one of the big wave days)

I am very interested in this club.  Everybody seems to forget how great the tributaries to the bay are.  I have had many 50-75 fish days on the Saginaw River and Tittibawassee.  If the bay is too rough, we can always fish the river.  Jeremy
