Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Since it keeps changing year to year, and sometimes it seems like its day to day and i cant seem to find any clear instructions...

what exactly do i need to legally fish canadian waters?

Please only answer if you are 100% certain.  Im not trying to be a d bag, but i dont want a bunch of " i thinks" or "i heards" or "im pretty sures".  i get confused easily.

If anyone knows exactly what i need to do or get to appease the canadian and american governments while fishing from the lake st clair river all the way down to lake erie please let me know.

Currently, since the Canadians decided to postpone their rediculous plans, a fishing license for both Canada and the United States, and a PassCard or Passport on your person along with your drivers license. Do not land or anchor in Canada or Canadian waters. Do not take beer into Canadian waters in your boat if you do not have a potty on board.

What's with the news these days on the TV and the radio. Can't find the truth amongst the lies. Some talking head that claims to live their life in a better way, says I have to compromise. But now there's something on the rise. Truth has opened up my eyes. There's no running from your dirty lies. You can't avoid the truth. I'll no longer close my eyes.

I have heard of women pros using the motor well or livewell for a potty...Does that count??  ;D

i have heard of men doing the same thing for #2.  bring a walmart bag with ya, and if you have to go, well walmart bag, livewell, you get the picture.  i also heard a story about someone on erie fishing and spotting a walmart bag tied up and floating.  thinking they just found someones new tackle that must have blown out of the boat, they trolled over to it and yanked it out of the water.  upon opening the bag, the quickly realized that they were holding 3 lbs of human feces.  I wont say any names, but the person stops by this board from time to time :o

Good times!

I'm not recommending this, but as I have reported, every spring at the outdoor shows I ask the various enforcement agencies the same questions about requirements and interpretations. This past winter, I asked an Ontario officer about flare guns and he said there was no law against flare guns. That it is not considered a firearm and never has been. It is on my list of 'if time allows' I will try to confirm and get the same answer from several law agencies and post it.

As always, since regulations are subject to change, you should always check with the actual agency(ies). I will continue to try to make links more readily available as time allows.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

At our meeting of the Downriver Bass Club last night one of the board members had researched requirements for Canada.  He told us not to have flare guns.  Also, it was reported that if a boat is over a certain length, one must have 6 flares.  I don't remember the exact length quoted, but I do know that my 18.5 Ranger doesn't need 6, only 3.
But then when I went on the Canadian site, they say that I can have a waterproof flashlight instead.

And do I need a boarding ladder for a Bass Boat?
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

Since you mentioned St Clair River, you also need a Walpole license to fish the Canadian side of the south channel and the cut-off.
