I have a Fortrex 101, the issue I am having is that the motor will not turn on when  the pedal is pushed but works when the switch is set to continous.  Where would I start to try to diagnose the problem???

Thanks for any help
Jon

The switch?  Either the swich on the foot pedal has gone bad, or the switch you change from continuous to momentary?

Wonder if the magnetic proximity switch on the momentary switch is out of position?  Should still be under warranty right?

Thats exactly what is was, fixed it in about 30 secs, put a drop of superglue to hold the magnet in place.  Should be good to go now

I believe the switch is a reed style switch.  I had a similar issue with my 2008 model Maxxum. The magnet on the " button" portion is pressed into a hole in the button.  You can take the button off and remove the magnet.  With the button off, take a stronger magnet and hold it over the switch.  If this works you just need to "space" the magnet that is normally pressed into that hole with something... paper maybe?  By spacing it closer to the switch it allow the magnetic field to operate the reed switch correctly.  I did this on mine and it works great now.  Much easier that pulling the whole motor off your boat for service.

Hope this helps,

Vic

You should send your problem to Minn Kota because a Fortrex should be under warranty so they can send you a new part.
