I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

hey guys im going to be fishing on wixom lake this weekend and was wondering if any one has fished it resently?  any tips on what they were biting or where they were located at?

McCarter

been there a few times in the last month.  we caught them pretty good on texas rigged 7" power worms, sour grape, junebug, and grn pumpkin worked good.  We caught a bunch on our Nemesis 5" Sicko and a bunch on the upskirt jig, mccarters magic and kevzilla were getting them good.  caught a bunch of big pike on a lucky craft rc 2.5 cranks.  get on the mainlake weedlines and have at it.

the tittibawassee side fished much better for us than the tobacco.

what mccarter said about tobbaco side it was ugly was there yesterday for a tournament. tobbaco side was real muddy at the dale road bridge and the sea wall up there didnt produc e like it usually does 1 3 pound smallie was it.. big sack came off the flats from the store and between the bridge on the public acess side. and the fish were all caught in less than 10 foot of water and that bag was 17.95 pounds for 5 and no fish over 4 pounds. biggest share of the rest came from the othere side of the bridge not sure where like he said hit a weed line and go...

hey thanks ya i put in at the public access site just north of the bridge b4 u go into edenville.  most of my fishing xperience is north of the bridge b4 u get to edenville. usually do pretty well that way but only have gone south once and a buddy of mine only caught a 3 pounder.  if u go south of the bridge what side is better north or south? ive ceen that there are a few more channels and cover on the south side and just a long sand bar on the north. im glad they r shallow cuz i dont do alot of deep or deeper fishing. bout the max is 15ft for me.  i usually use spinner baits and tubes. thats my best luck. i was talking to a guy and he said use a jerk bait bout 6ft down, so i might give that a try too.

korean_bassmaster

hey i was wondering iff anyone has fished wixom in the last few days? was wondering about the water clarity? i cant use cranks that well so what would be the next best thing to use?  white spinnerbait?

korean_bassmaster

went to wixom the other day got there at 7 and fished till 2 and only caught 5  3 were keepers. but no size. caught them on white spinneerbaits slow rolling them. im going back next week, any suggesttions on what else i could try?

djkimmel

Jig and pigs there. Flip. Pitch. Cast. Swim.

Carolina rig with a lizard, worm or best - creature bait. I use brush hawgs a lot.

Traps / Spots. Anyone can throw them.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

You cannot beat a senko in junebug color fished wacky style along all weed lines. Especially where a weed line has a bend. This time of year a slow presentation sometimes is the trick.

korean_bassmaster

ok thanks guys, ill have to try it next time. neva fished a carolina rig b4, so that might be interesting.

djkimmel

C-rig is a great alternative to crankbaits.

McCarter

just got back from the Midwest Sportsmen tournament up there.  We couldnt get anything going on soft plastics or jigs during our prefish.  best bites were on cranks and jerks.  the jerkbait was the ticket for us tournament day although the smallies wouldnt commit to it.  had countless follows and slaps and one hooked in the head that made it to the boat.  the largies, however, were inhaling it.  best we could do was just under 13.5 lbs but it was good enough for 6th place and $200.  wish i could have figured out the smallmouth, they were a lot bigger than the largies.

Most of the people i talked to who did well were cranking weedlines with big baits.

Mangus won with over 19 lbs ( all smallies ) and got big bass with a 5+ lber.  that guy is good!

Cool, thanks. Not as warm as I hoped, but better than I thought. Hopefully, with the warmer temps, it won't slip down much more before this weekend.
