I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Hello all, over the years i've had boats, all of them with white hulls. They all had/have the black standard lettering required by the "rule book". What do I do if my new basscat has a black hull? It came with silver "hand written" looking letters. Can I use these? I dont know what to do if i can't. Seems i've seen other boats with these different letters and numbers on them.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Use whatever shows up.  If your hull is black, white or silver shows up well.  What is the other color of the hull?  That still may not be acceptable from a short distance.  That is why I say use white or silver.  Gold can even be good too.  I don't know of any specific rules.  My hull is white with royal blue and silver.  My letters are white and show up good enough...............I guess.

I had a vinyl shop make mine. I just sent him a picture of my boat and he matched it up pretty well. He said if I took the boat there he could have got it done perfect. Pretty cheap too.

Thanks for the replies. My hull is black, burgundy with silver stripe. The letters are flake to match the silver, looks good. I have a book from 1992 or 1993 thats tells about the black "standard" letters. But, i'm going to assume thats changed because off all the boats with what appears custome letters. And very nice work on the stratos, where did you have it done? Is there a website?

I believe the rule states that they have to be three inches and contrast in color with the boat so they can be seen. But dont quote me Im just remembering what I read.
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

I believe these are the rules:

The vessel registration number must be displayed as follows:

  • Painted on or permanently attached to each side of the forward half of the vessel.
  • Be in plain vertical block characters of not less than 3- inches in height.
  • Be arranged so that it it reads from left to right.
  • Contrast with the color of the background so that it is distinctly visible and legible.
  • Have spaces or hyphens that are equal to the width of a letter other than "I" or a number other than "1" between the prefix and the number, and the number and the suffix.

Bender,  Those numbers look great.  Are they raised letters??  What did it cost to get a set of them??  I'm looking for about the same thing for my Stratos.  How long did it take??  Thanks,  Jeff

Firefighter Jeff

One other thing,  are the numbers two color or three color like the logo???

Bender

Honestly I don't know how much it cost, but I know it was pretty cheap. Had them done the same time as my buddy's racecar so he paid for them. These are 4 layer vinyl. He said if I took the boat there he could have done them perfect which would be 3 layer. Does't take him long at all, probably less than an hour and he will put them on too.

We just got a bunch of Nemesis stickers done that are digitally printed color but it is one layer. We will see how well they hold up. That guy is here in Brighton amd did it real cheap. 10 12x12 and 10 6x6 for just over $100.

I'm not sure yet which way will hold up better but the 4 layer "feels" more durable.
