I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Dont really know how to explain it but if you look at the two baits you can instantly tell one is bigger. Not longer but considerably thicker all around.

Yeah, I saw that Bass Pros as well.  I had the same thought that it was a C-Flash.  Those guys will plug anything for a sponsor, won't they?  I laugh about the guys that say "I caught my fish on a Strike King blah blah blah" and when they broadcast the tourney, it is obvious that the lure is a Bomber fat free or something like that...where is honesty gone in the fishing world??  Wait a minute, did I really just ask that?!  ;D ;)

TCook

It was a c-flash, you could even see the red J or what ever it is on the belly. I was really surprised that he would show the baits up close when explaining what he was using to catch his fish and claim it was a manns. Does he think nobody is going to notice what it really is?

Cheetam

If I remember right, there was a Mann's tied to one of the rods on the deck...I'm sure that's the one that caught all of the big ones  ;)

TCook,
Yes there will be some difference between two baits. As jcheetam mentioned about being hand made. Although I cant say Ive ever seen that much of a difference in the bulk of the bait. The biggest difference Ive noticed is the paint schemes. Another difference may be if you got a 22mag and a 22cal. Not saying thats it but you might check. The bodies still should be about the same size just the bill on the mag is going to be longer. And yes I have noticed that some catch more fish than others. Ive seen pros have that same problem with different baits over the years and they always put away the one that is catching all the fish for tourny day.
I also saw that episode of Bass Pro and it was a c-flash in threadfin shad the same one Chip Harrison used on St Clair and Champlain for his wins.
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

OK I had to go an look, you got me wondering. I have about 20 in three different sizes, the hound dog, 22 and the 44. I compaired them all to each other (same size to same size) and didnt find any that I would say were different by eye. Like I said the CAL and the Mags have different size lips but thats the only difference that I could tell. If you can take a picture of the two and post it maybe we can figure it out.

Cheetam

If it isn't two different models, I'm wondering if they were made in  two different batches?  Did you buy the cranks at the same time?

Don, they are both 22 cal with the same bill, the body on the lemonade is larger than the bluegill. These two baits were bought months apart. Here are some pics from my phone, thats all I got my digital camera recently broke.

I have a whole box full of them, and for the most part they're all the same except for a few that are a bit fatter.  They are a true custom bait, and could vary slightly from batch to batch.  Some of the difference could be painted patterns vs foiled patterns. (ie more coats of paint and clearcoat instead of foil/thin translucent paint/clearcoat).  If you look at the old Bagley baits from back in the 80's when they were good, you'd notice the same slight variances.  I have some old Killer B 1's that are noticeably different in size than others.

As with any wood bait, some always seem to catch fish better than others for no apparent reason.  That's just the way it is when dealing with wood baits.  Remember David Fritts talking about the old Poes baits?  He'd go through hundreds of baits until he found a dozen that he liked, and maybe 1 or 2 of those were gems and would only get used when big money was on the line.  They all caught fish but those "special" baits had something different about them whether it was related to action or how it deflected off cover.

I just got back from Mikes Pharmacy/Mikes Rx Baits where I picked up 6 more baits before they get scarce again.  I have a few that are pretty beat up--I guess those are good ones!  ;D  He has most all of them in stock now, and Mangus was in there writing another order for ones he's low on.

LGMOUTH

Well youve got me, they are definitely different. I dont know if I havent ever seen that or just havent ever payed attention. Im guessing bryan is correct, its just a different batch and was made a little different.

The fact that these baits differ makes me like them even more, I think I will order another 5. ;)

Cheetam

I was thinking different batches, but the size difference between the two looks like it's a 1/4 wider at least (could be the pics though).  Depending on how he makes his blanks, he could have had one of the larger bodied baits fall into the smaller body pile or vise versa.  Who knows...
Jeff

TCook

the 44 size is much larger than the 22 so I dont think they could of been mixed up.

What you have right there is prolly a money bait.. nobody in this world has it except u! little differences are the key it prolly has a different action too it. the bill might b the same but the body will effect the baits action. the fatter one is going to put a more wobble in the water but the thinner one will be tighter. you better not sleep this year @ the BFLs i might just steal that one!-skeeterman-

As far as Stacey King, he's sponsored by Solar Bat, and the guy who owns Solar Bat also makes the C-Flash baits.  I didn't see the show, but I thought my buddy told me Stacey mentioned C-Flash specifically in the show.  I know he and Mangus both have been instrumental in developing those baits with Gary Nesty.

skeeterman190

I never heard of them til Chip won the St.Clair Bfl on them. then i got completly destroyed on Coldwater with them. Greg and Don both talked about them. (Did u guys really catch a 20lb sack on those cranks)? I was glad to get 10 on my spinnerbait. the conditions called for a moving bait.-skeeterman-(did u catch any on Leelanau on them??) i have to get me some of those C-flashes! i got a fever-

Yes Yes and Yes

Im watching that episode of bass pros and stacy king did say he was using a wally G in the 22 size.

Man, that is too bad that they work so well, because with a new baby on the way in April, I don't see the budget loosening up to allow for any $20 baits this year.  Maybe one of you guys will hang some in some grass, break it off, I'll rip through it with braid and bring it in the boat...I know, it's a long shot, but it beats having you lose them in the trees because I don't like heights!  ;D

Durand Dan

This shows all the baits fairly well. That's quite a bit of cash for a lure through.
