I'm disappointed to see now that House Natural Resources and Tourism Committee Chair Representative David Martin has added those very bad commercial fishing bills HB 5801 and 5802 to an upcoming committee hearing on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at noon.

The poorly written, damaging to Michigan Sport Fishing commercial fishing bills have been introduced again. State House Bills 5801 and 5802, introduced by Rep. Dave Prestin and Rep. Jason Morgan, have been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources and Tourism.

This is a tale of two lakes. Intertwined lakes, in Barry County, Michigan. Where somehow the water has gone away. Upper and Lower Crooked Lakes, both near and dear to me, are suffering from the lowest water levels I've seen in the 35+ years I've been fishing them.

Well, we're officially buying a bigger engine after the sale of our old 1960's, 5.5 Johnson Sea Horse yesterday. We're looking at putting a 20 to 25 horse on our little 14' Sea Nymph, prefferably Jonhson or Mercury.

Any tips or look-outs when buying the new engine? Does anyone have any experience with the new batteryless Mercury Four Stroke?

Bass Fishing... What can I say, I'm hooked!

Bloomer

did the same thing a few years back, Had a 1969 mercury 9.8 hp. Bought a new 15hp mercury 2 stroke for it in 02. Ran it into 07 and never had a problem with it. Had the same set up, a 14' sears aluminum, that 15hp would push that boat at 25 mph (with one person in it). Have never tried the 4 strokes however. Even the 225hp mercury I'm running these days is a 2 stroke, although some days filling up I wish it was a 4 stroke.

Not sure?? hey though i have a $1000 dollar certificate i won in a tourney for a mercury engine. i need to make a few call to make sure its legit(BAU) before i get rid of it! and make sure if theres a hp rating on it?? ill let you know if its all good for what your looking for. id unload it for $800 or maybe a little less to help you out. I run yamaha and thats it!-skeeterman- ill check into it this week and let you know.

Whoa... thought you might be engaged? ;D Look for the best warranty for trouble-reducing ownership. Maybe wait for the winter shows to get the motor at a show special price?

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.
