Don Watts won....I hope he gives all the details, cause I missed the weigh in.

LGMOUTH

Im not much of a story teller so I will just give you the details. Ive got to admit I had a great day. I had 17.32 and second place was (I think) 13.81. My big fish was 4.20 and I didnt have a fish under 3lbs. I caught 15 to 18 keepers and most of them including 4 out of the 5 that I weighed in on a C Flash crankbait. For those of you that dont know anything about these crankbaits, they are the same crankbaits that Chip Harrison won with at the last BFL on St. Clair. They are a balsa wood crankbait that are hand made and painted. You might want to check them out. They are a little pricey but Im telling you they are well worth the money. Ive been using them for the past two years and I cant praise them enough, and if Im not mistaken you can get them from Mike Rx which is a sponsor of this site.

It was very windy most of the day which made throwing the crankbait all day a little easier since it was difficult to throw anything else out in the wind. Usually I wouldnt throw a crankbait all day but Im glad I did...

My big fish came from a spot that I have caught a 4 1/2 lber the previous two tournaments that I fished there. It took me most of the day and three trips to the spot but at 1:30 I finally caught the 4.20 which just put a big exclamation point on my day and weight. Just goes to show you that you should always check check and triple check your best spots..

Thanks for letting me boost my ego a little, hope to see all of you on the water.

And yes squid I did had a 3lb Smallie from the spot you ran me off of in the morning but I culled it out with that 4.20 so I weighed in 5 largemouth.. Check it out on the NBAA website it should be up thursday or friday....
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

Ran you off.....lol....I was just looking for safe harbour....lol

I did everything Jim told me to do.  I went out to the left side where Don saw me and I was just barely keeping my boat off the rocks.  I caught my first fish on a tube just inside the break and was hoping it was a small one, cause there was no way I was taking my foot off the trolling motor to net this unless it was a big toad.  I watch as Don moved down the wall and moved over to the other side to help cut down the wind action and the waves.

Since I don't like moving in on someone...especially when they tell me they are heading back to that point....that and I was still having control problems...I went to a calmer spot.

I knew I should have thrown a crankbait earlier...but boat control was more on my mind.  Had a great bite on a tube and lost it.  Moved on down the way to let the wind and current bring me back to the spot when I heard JR...(if ya don't know him, don't worry)..yell out that he caught one..That made my morning rock...lol.

I did not have a clue where to go that was easy on my boat and my back.

I did have a great time on the water....I think I saw about 40 out of the 60 anglers everywhere I went.
