Inland Waterway Bass Fishing Closure Defeated

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Talked to Doug Ratliff at the Wonderland Marine West Fishing Extravaganza and he shared the following - the 20th Annual Ken Purvey Last Chance Memorial bass tournament is set for Sunday October 26, 2008 on Cass Lake out of Dodge #4 State Park.

More details to follow.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Usually when there is the word "Memorial" in a tournament listing someone has passed away.  Ken Purvey didn't pass away did he???  I always liked Ken and if he did he will be sorely missed.

 FYI - Ken passed away a few years ago (3-4 maybe longer). Since then Doug ran it alone and in the last couple T. Melvin (LunchMoney Lures) and Doug now put it on.
