I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

The Michigan Bass Invitational (MBI) is a tournament comprised of about 6-8 local clubs and it has been around since the mid 70's. No big money pots (there is a optional small money pot for big fish 25% and big stringer 75%), we just fish for plaques and a trophy. This year the MBI is on Half Moon Chain of Lakes in Washtenaw County on September 17, 2006, which is a Sunday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Membership last year was at 6 clubs. There is room for 2 (or more if one drops out) clubs to join this year. If anyone is interested in joining, they can contact Derrek from the Oakland County Bass Anglers (last year's winner on st. clair) at nitroderrek@yahoo.com. I'm the tournament director this year. Clubs interested in joining must be present at the MBI meeting on February 18th, 2006, at Gander Mountain in Ponitac, at 5pm. I hope to see you there, Derrek

Derrek, Do you send the top finishers from each club and they do a shootout?  Is it a team, club or individual tourney? We have about 20 2-man teams in our club.  Just wondering if it might be something our club would be interested in.  The date happens to fall in between two of our tourneys, so it may work for some of the guys in our club.

Thanks
Steve

it is just a one day tournament, nothing after that, each club sends 4, 2 man teams in 4 boats total.  our club sends it's best 8 anglers of that year to the event, extra incentive to do well in our club.  the club wins  a large trophie, and each member fishing gets an individual plaque, which is pretty nice, i've got 2 of them.  any more questions?  derrek

The MBI tournament has always been a fun torny to fish. I am a member of the Wayne County Bass Anglers and we were one of the originating clubs of this event. I don't remember exactly when it started, i want to say around 1980, but it might have been sooner. It was created when there weren't a bunch of bass clubs and there was always the "Our club has better fisherman then your club" going around. Henceforth came the MBI It had a different name when it was created but I have to many years of Budweiser and Vienna sausages so my brain has forgot lots of things. Anyway little bill donated a huge trophy to the event and each year the winning club gets their name on the trophy and bragging rights as the best club in southeastern Michigan. There is really not a lot of money to be one when you consider the expenses to fish the tourney IE, Boat food, gas, Boat food etc. But it is still fun to fish with all of the trash talk going on at the launch in the morning and then the tight lips at the weigh in when the 20Lb sacks Didn't materialize. I would recommend it to any club. Unfortunately my club will not participate this year do to our schedule. Maybe I will join a club that is fishing it just cause I liked it so much.
