What do you think about Detroit being named as one of the Top Bass Cities!

I know the Bass is going to go south on us when they get to the #1, but hey I grew up fishing southern waters! When I moved to Michigan and caught my first sallie outta St. Clair... Man I was hooked!

All in all,  its great to see the recognition in the pages of bassmaster... I am sure many of my friends down south saw "DETROIT" in the magazine and said "whuuuuuut"    LOL...

All it takes is one trip (preferably when the wind isn't blowing too hard) and they'll know...

Man, The "D" sure belongs on the list!  If they would have put the Classic here last summer instead of out in Pittsburg, the weigh-ins would have been MUCH MUCH different.  Detroit is custom made for big tournaments, we have Cobo for the expos and the Joe for weigh ins.  Oh, and not to mention LCS, the Detroit River, St. Clair River and Lake Erie all accesible.  What more can yopu ask for?

I tell ya what, it made me smile knowing that the fisheries are getting some more recognition up here. I truly believe we have the best smallmouth fishing in the WORLD right here. I love this state for the fishing we have here.

I think it's great to get the recognition... What's the worst that could happen?  St Clair gets even MORE crowded...yeah, like that could happen...lol

No.... Best thing would be a  Bass Anglers Lunch Dock at Chrystal Bay with a pair of binoculars!

We are truly lucky here in Michigan to have the quality of fishing that we do.  Not just the fishing but the number of bodies of water in which to fish.  It seems no matter where you live that you are close to some good fishing for one species or another not just bass.

The only thing keeping Detroit from being Number 1 in my mind is the winter.? Not being able to fish for 3 to 5 months is the difference.? I know they haven't voted yet but that would be my reason for not making this area Number 1.? Otherwise, this is the smallie capital of the world right here.? Look at all the variety of water that is here.? Natural inland lakes, small impoundments, and St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair, Detroit River and Lake Erie.? All accessible and within an hours drive from anywhere within the metro area.? Simply the best.........
