I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Okay, I heard the reason the tubes are in the tungsten weights is so it doesn't scar and break your line.  Why do they come out then?  Won't they come out sometime when you're fishing with them?  What are the advantages over say lead and brass, besides size?  Sometimes bigger is better.
Live to fish, Fish to live.

advantages of tunsten are:

Smaller size
Denser than lead making it much more sensitive
Makes more noise than lead which attracts fish ( sometimes )
Safer for environment

Disadvantages of tungsten are:

Price.  They cost like 50 times more than lead.
Inserts do come out a lot.

I personally like to use tungsten anytime i can.  But the price kills me.  Not that we really have much of a use for 1 oz bullet weights up here, but (1) 1 oz tungsten bullet weight sells for $5-$6 dollars depending on the brand.  Thats a little high for my taste.  But even the 4 packs of 1/4 oz weights are over $4.00 from what i have seen.  Thats a buck a piece or more for a friggin weight.  It hurts to by them, but the advantages outweigh the price tag most of the time.  I really like them when fish are on beds.  You can keep your distance but still feel when your bait is entering the bed with tungsten better than you can with lead.

You can still buy steel weights, which are much less expensive than Tg, a little more sensitive than lead and still better for the environment than lead.

I personally believe that once you try Tg weights you will never go back to steel or lead.  Not all Tg weight manufacturers use the tubes.  I think it is based on how good the casting is for the weight.

Believe me I hate the price but I love the performance.  I think like most things, Tg weights just become "the cost of doing business".

In that case, I am selling bright pink worms with a secret attractant for $10 per worm, guaranteed to catch fish sometime somewhere.  Man is this stuff getting to be expensive. >:(

Please don't! My wife would make me buy them for her to use. I already had to get her the all Pink spinning rod from Shakspere that Bass Pro had for Breast Cancer.

I bought xcalibur weights.  Do you think I could remove the insert and maybe file the edges lightly just to smooth it out?  Maybe even buff it out after that? ???

Just a little technical data.  Sorry it's the Science teacher in me.  I also got too much time on my hands.  I'm on vacation and look at the weather!  Can't even go after Walleyes, it's just too darn cold out.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.
