I may be wrong, but it looks like ABA's format is designed for the wealthy fisherman.
thomas

The ABA is the least expensive national tournament circuit. Its only $70 per angler verses $200 for BFL and much more for others. Our Membership fee $25.00 is the lowest of all tournaments circuits that I know of.

ABA: $70 (can fish in different divisions within a regional and accumulate points within the region)

BFL: $200 (can fish in different divisions and accumulate points only with in that division)

BASS: $200 and was $250 (can fish in different divisions and accumulate points only with in that division)

The weekend angler has constraints on his time and days off. ABA allows the angler to fish in different division to get his best 4 qualifying events locally. This lets the angler fish when he has the time to do so. Some anglers have more time and some have less and this gives the weekend angler flexibility in determining when and where to fish. Local tournaments mean less gas money and less expenses like hotel, meals etc.

ABA uses a point system approach not pounds + points to determine who the best anglers in the country are. The final 4 competition will determine who is the best angler in the country. There will be one representative from each region in the country. (Southeast, Midwest, South Central and Northeast). These final 4 will fish in a one day practice/one day tournament to determine who is the best angler and win a new 21 Triton Bass Boat fully rigged and water ready.
Anglers now have a large regional championship closer to their home. Each region of the country will have a regional championship that will be as great as a national championship but much closer to their home. For example the northeast regional will be at 1,000 islands for 2007. This event will determine the Northeast Angler of the Year and the top 50 by points will advance as boaters to the 2007 National Championship with no entry fee.

For all of the information on fishing American Bass Anglers go to http://www.americanbassanglers.com/more_info.php

ABA tends to attract the best anglers/best persons in the country. Our members are typically above par in fishing abilities and in character. These people come to ABA to fish and when they see what its is like many stay as life long members.

hey eric do you think they will be spawning on kent, st. clair and sagniaw when those tournaments are going on?  ;D ;D Just curious how the sight fishing bite will be? kind of a bummer to blow my chance at being able to afford to go boater this year, i ll have to wait til next year but it worked out ok last year ;D. ABA's are awesome tournaments to fish and everyone involved are really fun to fish with.

MBell

Anyone have the results from last year?  I checked the aba site and they have taken them down.
Thanks, Matt

Matt,

The ABA went to a new server and had to dump a bunch of info in the process. What results are you looking for?

Was looking for kent, st. clair, and saginaw results.  I was just curious, so if it's a big deal don't worry about it.  Also, for kent lake will the measuring boards be provided or do we need to buy a particular brand and where can we buy them?
Thanks, Matt

josh617

kent measure took like 17 almost 18 to win last year courtesy of bondo over there, st. clair measure took 19 something with hans dalerup winning it, and the sag bay took 20 and change courtesy of bondo again. kent took 14.5, st. clair almost 17, and sag bay took 18 to get a check.

Skip Johnson

just paid my early entry online for kent lake on may 6th see you there ;D

Matt the numbers Josh threw out seemed about right. If you want more then that call me on Saturday and I will have Jaye dig our her results... Jaye keeps them all and has them filed.

The board we use is a Golden Rule Weigh Master Big Bass Board. You must own one and most of the ABA guys have them. If you need one I always have a dozen on hand for sale. I sell them cheaper then you can buy them in the store. I wish I could lend them out but I tried to one year and many did not come back. Now you must own one.

I am going to start a thread on the paper tournaments soon.
