I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

What are the best maps for Burt Mullet.  Paper or electronic.
I have a Garmin 172C  Does the Lake Huron Blue chart cover Burt Mullet or do you need inland or hot spot map?

Thanks

motocross269

I bought the Hot spot Paper map for Burt and Mullet..Seems pretty good...I imagine anything that you can run off of GPS would be better.  You should always have a paper map as a back up.....Saved my butt a few times in the military when my GPS decided to puke...And they all will at some point...Sunspots, clouds, Aliens, whatever...LOL

Usually for me it's aliens.

Moto gives good advice.  Use both.

Nice chartbook of the entire Inland Waterway available from the Michigan United Conservation Clubs 517-371-1041

For electronic, you need to check out the Lakemaster Michigan ProMap Series for Garmin: http://www.lakemap.com/gpsdata/garmin/michigan.html

I do not know yet which Garmin models are compatible yet though. I expect to see a list soon on Lakemaster's site. But the lake maps are more accurate and they include some ProMaps remapped by Lakemaster with 1-foot or 3-foot detail contours.

Burt Lake has been remapped in 1-foot high definition contours and Mullett Lake is included 3-foot high definition contours.

There are 54 ProMap high definition lake maps in total for Michigan. There are 657 total additional lake maps included in the mapping software for Garmin units.

Hey Dan..Do you know if you can get that series on CD????  I have checked around and the only maps I can find that are digital are at sportsmansconnection.com...I will check out the web site you gave and see, but if you have any other leads let me know.
I will probably stick with my hand held GPS until I get a bigger boat..I have an etrex legend and a Magellan, They are not capable of running the cards.

Never mind Dan..I will start another topic..I don't want to mess up T Angler's original question about Burt and Mullet...
sorry about that

I don't think TAngler will mind too much for more information - Lakemaster also makes computer mapping software I have installed on my PC - http://www.lakemap.com/pcmapping/index.html

Includes the ability to get real accurate GPS waypoints right off your PC just by putting your mouse pointer over a spot. You can zoom in and out, and print the custom maps you make, including showing waypoints you create.

I have the Lake Michigan, Lake Erie (St. Clair), and Michigan inland version the includes the remapping of Saginaw Bay at 3-foot intervals. I've found a lot of new, specific spots just by zooming in and watching contours carefully. Some maps are the same as MDNR contours, while some have been updated to include more detail. Excellent study material I have used heavily.

I will be showing some of this at some of my Grand Rapids seminars.

That looks like it is exactly what I need...They show a picture of of them downloading the GPS coordinates on the exact same Magellan that I have..
Thanks

Very good stuff - I've been using the computer programs for a number of years now. I passed in value how much I paid shortly after I bought them. All been gravy ever since.

Thanks for the help Guys.  That Lake Master Map looks like the ticket and also the hot spot paper for back up.
