Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

just wondering if 30 lb power pro would work for throwing jigs and frogs? it's 8lb diameter and i put it on my small pinnacle reel with a 6-6 mh rod but it's hard to cast without backlashing. maybe i tried to put on too much? i'll wait till i can try it in my neighbor's pond to see for sure.. karol

Try the stren super braid, believe it or not it seems to cast alot easier than the power pro. To me it just isn't as stiff as power pro.

i used 10 lb power pro, 2 lb diameter on my frogs last year, and i hooked a 5 1/2 pounder in pads with it, and i horsed the fish out of there, no problem with the line at all.  i have never broken that line off on a bass, it is much stronger than it says, and that thin line casts a mile.  if you try breaking that line with your bare hands, all you will do is cut your hands.  the 30 lb power pro will work, but i don't think you need to go that big, but you can if you want to.  it will be stiffer and not quite as castable.  derrek

calme over kill but i use 50lb suffix proformance braid with a 12lb dia and a 6'6" to 7' rod because if you do get wraped around a log or in pads you can just take it with you!!! 8) i also think it casts very well

For me a 7' MH Fast rod teamed with a 7.1:1 reel and 50 lb power pro does the job perfectly.  With braid I would caution people going to a thin diameter on baitcasters.  Thinner diameter braid has a strong tendency to burrow into the guides.  All the information and opinions I've seen point toward using 50 lb braid at a minimum.

I've not seen a difference in castability of the thinner power pro over the thicker power pro.  But that's just me.  I'm weird sometimes.  ;D

This year I'm going to try Suffix and see if it out performs Power Pro.  I really like my Power Pro though!

My exerience with frogs is limited, but I used 20# power pro last year, and didn't have any problems with it.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.

i like the P-line spectrex.  30lb for frogs because you can cast 'em a mile.  its really soft line for a braid.  i use 15lb on a spinning rod for skipping docks and its amazing how well it casts.  as far as flipping and pitching,  i use at least 50lb, and will probably go to 65 or 80.  larger diameter will help watch the line for bites, and color helps a lot too.  if the line's a light color, just hit the bottom few feet with a sharpie to make it less obtrusive.
