I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Just want to get some of your opinions on the Eagle Fish Elite 640c gps fish finder combo.  I am considering the purchase of one or two of these for my boat.  I am considering this unit or a Lowrance LMS-522c or something of that nature.  They are made by the same company look the same and everything.  Only diff i can really see is the Eagle has a little better resolution on the screen, and the Lowrance has more peak to peak watt power.  Anything I am missing or what is your thoughts.  I am just thinking they are basically the same and the Eagle is almost  $100 less.

Eagles are cheaper versions of lowrance units.  Usually less power is the only difference.

Pretty much what I thought.  I was courious though on how much difference they could really have in the two units.

Dale - I am not positive on the new ones, but usually the eagles had a differnt backlighting on their screens.  The Lowrance were usually much brighter and more easily read in sunlight conditions.

I don't think Eagles have the Lowrance net 2000 capability either, so no sharing GPS antennas and adding different sensors.  I would also worry about processor speeds for quick screen updates when using map cards.  That is not advertised for either unit, but I know the older lowrances (lcx15mt's and lms 240/320/480's) struggled with the detailed map cards.

Thanks for the replys.  I was just unsure on exactly how different they were.  Looks and all are about the same but some of the little important things are different.  I will just stick to the Lowrance.

Not to change your mind but have you looked at a comparable Humminbird, They have come along way in the last few years and they are just as good if not better than the Lowrances now. I used the 767 and the 787 last year and just loved them. The 787 is the most visible screen in the sun light that I have ever seen. Just another option.
When you are in any contest you should work as if there whereto the very last minute a chance to loose it.

Hummingbirds are teh best units on the market right now IMHO.  The technology they are using now is blowing everything else out there away by a long shot.  They are the most visible screens on the market.  They use the same material for the screens as the US Air Force uses for there instruments on all there aircraft.

The side imaging is the best part tho.  You can use it to find exactly where schools of game fish are in relation to your boat.  And they just came out with a new unit this year that allows you to have the SI in a compact, affordable unit.  The 797c2 SI Combo is going in my boat ASAP.  This technology will take years off the learning curve.

I would take a serious look at the Hummingbrid units.  Compare them to any other brand and you will like what you see.  High definiton screens, greater visibility in sunlight from any angle, Higher peak to peak power, usually better price.  A lot of pros are catching on to these as well.  They have made some awesome progress since Johnson Outdoors bought them.

Thanks guys.  I will take a look at the Hummingbird units.  I just want a good quality gps/sonar combo.
