I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Just saw the pictures. Looks like it's been posted on a few websites. It was reportedly 24 inches & 9.32 pounds and caught during a local tourney yesterday. Hubbard Lake.

It would be great if this record is verified. I definitely felt that our waters had the potential, I just never believed the record from 1906 was legit. That record was 9.25/27.25 inches. I've seen many old Muskie records that were found out to be proven unreliable and it was difficult to believe our existing smallie record was true, especially since I could never find the back story on it, and it doesn't even say how or what it was caught on. I saw pics of an 8+ pounder from Hubbard so I knew it had some big girls! Congrats to the angler and good luck with the verification.

Yes, this one sounds good. 2 certified scales weighed the same. Fish is frozen in a t-shirt but he will be probably showing it to the MDNR this evening to verify that yes it is a smallmouth bass.

Caught during the Hubbard Lake Open of the BASS ANGLERS of the SUNRISE SIDE CLUB yesterday October 18, 2015. Partner says they had another 1 about 6 pounds and lost one that was in between the size of the 6-pounder and the 9-pounder! Wow! But the only 3 bites they had during the snow flakes coming down on them on Hubbard yesterday.

The fortunate angler is from Michigan - Greg Gasiciel. He was fishing with Scott Somerfield who netted the giant smallmouth bass for him. As long as he produces the fish to the MDNR fisheries Biologist and gets the proper paperwork from the scales and additional required information it will be a new, verified, modern Michigan smallmouth bass state record! Amazing! I'm jealous and happy for the angler! What a catch!

Here's another picture of the beautiful smallmouth bass!

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Doesn't surprise me that Hubbard produced this beast. The fish there are mutants. Every fish I've caught out of that lake has been a stud. Fat, fat, fat...

It's good to know the catch and keep season during the northern spawn has severely impacted the size of trophy smallmouth in northern Michigan.
