Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

I just picked up a small pack of #1 Gammies from Gander Mountain on Saturday.  I tried it on Sunday to see if there was any difference between hook ups using Gammie or Owner.  The Gammie hook broke in two when I pulled it out of a small brush pile.  The line wasn't even close to breaking, but the hook broke right off.  I was surprised by this.  I guess I will stick with Owner hooks for now.

I go thru at least 25-50 Gam DS a year
Never had a bad one yet.
And i've used Owner in the past, Never had one of those break as well
Really the only hooks I've ever bent have been Bitsy's or the Mustand triple grips on cranks

My thoughts would be there all good hooks
Just remember there's no std. size. A 1/0 gam ds hook might or might not be the same size as a owner, VCM, Etc.
I myself like the Gam, to me they rust the least and I get good hook ups

My new set up worked flawlessly...  ;D

Did pretty good on a drop shot, 3 inch wacky sinko copy in green pumpkin... We had doubles once and I had Jesse hold my bigger fish.

I like a longer leader on my DS rigs, 6-10' depending on conditions... I just can't see any swivel working for me.  All I can see in my mind is the things going thru the tip and ripping the insert out of it.
Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

No doubt that you don't want this swivel running through the guides.... But I used a 3 ft leader total and the fish were not bothered at all...  ;D
