I have an opportunity to buy several of last years curado for less than $80 each, brand new. I use quantum pt's now and have never tried a shimano, any comparisons?

rufus

I have 14 of them that range in age from 12 years old to 1 year old. I put a ton of hours on my reels and they take and incredible beating. I ocasionally have to have them worked on, they most of the time just need a good cleaning and lube. I will probably never own another type of baitcaster. I have them in both the 6.3:1 and 5.1:1. You definitely will want both speeds if you like to crank and throw spinnerbaits and 'traps. The 6.3 is the all purpose, but the 5.1 definitely has it's place. I have won many tournaments just because of the 5.1. God Bless and Good Fishin'!

REEL_MAN

If you have the chance to by new Curados for less than $80. don't hesitate. You can't go wrong. When I worked for Quantum (engineer), Shimano was ALWAYS the bench mark.
I work on Rufus's reels  ;D  and he is correct that most of the time they just require clean and lube, but those that do require repair it is minor. Rufus uses his reels hard, like a good tool. Shimano is top shelf, besides, if you look in my rod locker that's all that is there ;D. You can't compromise with quality especially if you want dependability. Spend the money and retire the quantums.

I aggree with REEL MAN. If you can buy brand new curados for $80, do it. If you cant buy them all, I can help you out and buy the rest.

nothing but curado's in my rod locker as well - they are awesome.  I just upgraded to abec 7 bearings and a little rocket fuel - man what a difference.  don't forge the 3.8 ration for c-rig/drop shotting - awesome when you need it!

Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them

McCarter

I like curados almost as much as Hooters wings.  And that is saying a lot.

I have 4 curados ranging from 6 or 7 years old to 2 years old.  I love them.  They are workhorses for sure.  I have yet to have any of mine cleaned, but they all still work great.  Maybe this winter, Jeff Cheetam will be bored enough to clean them up and perhaps put some super bearing in them.  Hint, Hint, Hint!

For that price, i would buy them all.  Whatever you dont need should sell on ebay for $100 each.

I don't think you can go wrong with Shimano reels. I think they are the most dependable, durable reels on the market. That's why I use them.

Team houston

I use a lot of them also. I also am willing to take the $80 overflow, just let me know.

fowlmouth

Thanks for all the input guys, I am getting 5 of them. I can see if I can get more, if so how many would you want? I don't want to get stuck with a dozen of them, but if people want them I'll see what I can do.

Cheetam

Just curious...what model curados?
Jeff

fowlmouth

they are the 200 series right hand, I believe he said they are either 5.3:1 or 6.1, but I can't get picky on which one but will get some of each. I did not ask about lefties as I am right handed. My cousin bought one and it's green, if that helps.

Cheetam

Just curious if they were 100s...those are my favorite curados...
Jeff

MIBassKid

Hey Fowlmouth, just wondering if you recieved my message or not. Wanted to know if you bought extras of those curados and you wanted to get rid of one. Email me or PM me.

I also wondered if perhaps any of them were left handed.
So much water.  So many lures.  So little time.
