Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

Ok. I seem to have gotten myself into a federation tournment trail and am fishing Sanford and Wixom lakes back to back on a weekend.  Have never been there and won't have time to make it down to prefish.   What I am looking for is  basicly, everything I can gleen from you guys about these two lakes.

Baits, which from reading I assume will be lots of soft plastics and topwater baits.

What types of cover I will find on each lake.

And finally , good areas to start at.

Like I said . I will not have any time to make it down there to prefish.

Heck. I will even accept waypoint cords  ;D :D :D

Thanks for all yer help with this  and insuring I don't get my butt handed to me 2 days in a row again!

From what I understand about requirements for the trail... I would look for smallmouth and largemouth bass.

;D

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Do some research on Reservoir fishing and the way bass relate to the channel during post spawn and getting into summer patterns.....
I can't catch a heavy limit out of either of those lakes so I have nothing specific that will help....If it was me and I couldn't prefish and needed points for a trail I would head to the banks to make sure I get a limit...

I'm guessing trees and weeds will be important on both lakes. Probably on flats and points maybe near spawning bays, canals and channels.

Skulley

I've been on both those lakes at one time or another and I always look for the highways the bass use from their deep hideouts to their shallow feeding/spawning grounds.  Find the highways and you'll find the fish.  If those highways have structure on them like weed edges, stumps, rocks, all that much better.  There is a variety of structure in both those reservoirs.  Good luck.

You guys over there are pretty tight lipped with fishing info for the poor Fishing Pollock. Must be some big money up for grabs on tourneys on that  lake.

Waterfoul

I would fish in the water...  ;D

Drop shot the crap out of the weed edges!!  And throw a texas rigged bullet craw.  Oh, and don't leave home without some Pop-R  or frog type baits.  I've been getting some viscious hits on them lately... fish jumping clear out of the water with it.  Lots of fun!

Addicted to fishing.  All the time, any species, anywhere!!  Especially in West Michigan!!!

I can't get there untill Friday evening.   them "people" at that job I have say I actually have to show up. The nerve of then!

It's a flooded river.  Fish Jigs on the old river bends if you have a GPS that will show them.  Or just run docks and Lilly pads.
Good luck.
