Move went fine. The new server is much faster. Which is good!

I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Yesterday at the Natural Resources Commission meeting in Lansing, science prevailed thanks to many, many persons who took the time to write in, and especially those who showed up to speak before the Commission on Commissioner Walters’ amendment to close bass fishing on the Inland Waterway and Black Lake from May 1 until the third Saturday in June.

That was real frustrating for me, and more so for my web clients! Sometime around 1pm or earlier Wednesday the big Provo Utah datacenter took a dive again. My web server was running fine with GreatLakesBass.com and all the other websites but there was no way to get to it thanks to another network outage.

I imagine that was a pain in the butt for some of you too trying to figure out why the site wouldn't load. There wasn't anything any of us could do but wait. Very sorry.

I don't know when my primary IP address started working again but it was sometime after 1:15am Thursday morning. I know the websites on the main IP of my web server were back up when I checked them around 10am Thursday BUT all of my secure sites, my primary site and controlling programs and my hosting website design site www.anglerhosting.com were still down until about 6pm Thursday!

I can't remember if that is the 2nd worse network outage? I don't think it is the 1st? Hard to believe there may be one worse than that but I believe the year end one was 24 hours+!!! Since my host forced me to move my web server to the Provo Utah datacenter last March I've had more downtime by about 3 times than the previous 7 or 8 YEARS total!!! Not good #$%@#$#!

My server is fine. Love my new server. It hasn't gone down in 2 /12 years. But it does me, you and my clients no good if we can't get to it due to major connectivity problems every 2 or 3 months, or some people are getting fast loads while others are getting slow loads due to mystery network problems!

So, unless my host I pay a lot of money every month to lease a managed server from comes up with a miracle I will be moving my server with all websites some point in the near future to a new home NOT in Provo Utah. Probably on a weekend. It may mean one more lengthy downtime or bumpy period but if I find the right host maybe the giant pothole ride of the past 13 months will be over anyway.

Very glad and appreciative to see many of you just pick up where you left off. THANK YOU!!

I went thru withdrawls!!!  Had the shakes... sweats... dry mouth... it was terrible!!

I was shaking... my fist... up to the sky. It didn't make any difference. ;D

I had dry mouth from talking to a few clients who were upset, and the to the techs who couldn't tell me anything useful... Luckily, I was on hold long enough each time to have time to calm down. Put things in perspective. Read a couple books. Short ones. 1,000 pages or less... ;D

I'll pick a new host so you don't ever have to go through that again!!! :D (other than during the time I'm moving the server... ::) )
