I'm planning on moving to a new server within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Just a little friendly warning as there might be a few hours of odd behavior when the process starts. I will try to have it done at night or weekend.

Has anybody ever gotten on this water?  I fished it once when I was a little kid and I remember my uncle was working on a rental house there so he had a key to the gated boat launch and the fishing was incredible.  Time spent looking at maps this winter has got me wondering about new places to fish.  I'd love to get back there but can't remember if the little station/store by the boat launch will open the gate for you, or if you need to be a resident or member of the lake association with a key to open that gate in order to get on the lake.  Was thinking maybe you could pay to get on or something like Pine Lake.  Any info appreciated.

Good questions. I don't think I've ever been on it though I recall a fishing report or two a long time ago, probably on another website. If no one gets with you on here, and you find out anything you can share, please do so. Thanks, and good luck.

Help stop invasive spcies. Don't move fish between unconnected bodies of water. Clean, drain and dry your boat before launching on another water body.

Fished it a lot as a 20 somthing-er.  Buddy's parents lived on it and had a key.  Great fishing, especially with live shiners under a bobber along weed edges.

You can launch a small boat on Carter Lake south of Algonquin and go thru the culvert pipe under the road.  I know several guys who do this.

Awesome Mike thanks a lot for sharing. Ill add it to my list of places to go when im feeling adventurous ;D

Do you suppose a 16 ft. skeeter would fit under that bridge?

Waterfoul

I honestly don't know.  I never had to take that route.  Drive past it some time with a tape measure!  LOL!!

We did well early in the mornings walking the dog on top too... spooks and such.

Culverts big enough for that size boat aren't real common connecting smaller lakes, but you never know until you test it. I'd try the measurement before physical approach. Speaking from being stuck numerous times in places I should have checked out some other way than with a boat first...

I do know it's a fairly wide culvert... but never had to actually go thru it.

Sounds like ill be trying it this spring. Carter lake looks like it might be fun anyways if I cant get to algonquin. Thx for the responses  :)

That's usually a much better plan if you already have an interesting backup lake you can try regardless. Just don't get stuck... and watch out for tube spiders! They're the worst!
